So over the past week after I have upped my dosage, I have been experiencing different side effects. Usually I would feel tired and drowsy etc but now I get really irritated and agitated, and I come out with sentences that come across as really quite rude.

I can't control what I say, it's almost like Tourrettes except I don't say rude words. I just come out with stuff, like if I find something boring beforehand I would have just sat there and carried on, but now I actually shout out 'Boring'

That's an example of what I have done, has anyone got any idea what this might be? Is it a side effect? Thanks :)

Everyone responds to medications so differently. Google "lamictal side effects" and you will see what I mean. I was on it for a while, as my first AED. Turned out to not help with seizures but it mellowed me out compared to what I was typically like. I kind of liked it for that reason lol.
How long have you been on it for? Have you reached the dosage your neurologist wants you to be on? Could be that it is not the right medication for you, or that at a lower dose these side effects won't be a problem, or that it will take more time for your body to get used to the medication (hence my question about how long you've been on it for). Very hard to say. Definitely report these side effects to your neurologist and let him/her know you don't like these side effects. Ask if you should give it more time to get used to the medication, or if change should be made now. Good luck!

I haven't had those particular side effects with Lamictal, but as masterjen points out, everyone reacts differently. I've found that after any transition up or down it can take a while for the brain to adjust. If you can hang in there for another few weeks you may find that the initial side effects recede. If you find things getting worse, let the doc know.
