I'm just curious what people's experiences were with how often they increased their lamictal when starting. My daughter has been on it since late October (thursday will be the end of her 5th week on it).
I was talking to our pediatrician last night and she indicated that the 10mg every two weeks we were going up was on the conservative side now that her dose was a bit higher and that we could move up faster to try and get her to her maintenance dose a bit quicker and eliminate some of the episodes we are seeing if they are seizures.
We started at 5mg twice a day for two weeks, then 10mg twice a day for two weeks , then 15mg twice a day , and that takes us to where we are now which is the end of her 5th week on Lamictal. So now my big decision is do i try and increase it every 7-10 days like the pediatrician gave me the option to do? Or do i just give ativan on top of the other meds to try and knock back the extra episodes. She is also on clobazam 10mg a day and is tiny (not quite 4 years old and not even 15kg/32lbs)
The only really obvious side effect she has had so far is indigestion (she's burping like crazy), some clumsiness, and being a bit on the hyperactive side.
What have others done? Did you increase faster after week 5?
