Long story short, because of what people are telling me about my behavior I need to know if anxiety, depression and memory loss could be side effects of the drugs I've been taking for years: Lamictal and Trileptal. Thanks.

With most AEDs side-effects can occur even years after you have started taking them. If you google the meds you are taking and check on the side-effects you will be able to decide if that's what's going on with you. I've been on Lamictal for about 15 years and I think I'm starting to see a number of the adverse effects. Check 'em out and talk to your neurologist about it. Also check out vns as a way to, hopefully, improve your seizure control and decrease the amount of meds you have to take. I know it's not for everyone but I wish I had known about it years ago. Cheers!

I never really thought I had a problem with lamictal (I have been on it for years as a mood stabilizer) until a couple weeks ago when my nuero uped it 150mg 2xs a day. He also uped the Topamax a 100mgs 2xs a day on the same day. I seem to sleep a LOT and am fighting depression which I don't need as I am Bipolar 1. I am going to have to cal nuero if this doesn't mello out soon. I am on trileptal too but at a low dose(900 mg day) so I think my memory loss is Topamax. I have heard people complain of memory loss as the titrate up on lamictal though.

Thanks for your responses. I've been taking both meds for lots and lots of years. My husband's telling me I'm not happy anymore and he tells me I've been this way for about a year now, a few other people agree a little bit when I ask them. It's effecting our relationship and that's really scaring me. I know I'm stressed out, I never thought about depression before my husband mentioned it. But now that I think about it it makes sense and I don't dispute.
