I think the Lamictal I have been taking for the last 10 months is now causing me insomnia. I am not going to change anything until I see my Neurologist next time. I take 200mg in the morning and 200mg at night.

I was wondering if anyone on the forum takes 200mg in the morning and only 100mg at night to help their sleep. Or is it standard to have only a 50mg difference at night than during the day (eg 200mg/150mg or 150mg/100mg)

Can the nighttime dosage be taken earlier in the evening? Just curious. I'm usually a nighthawk myself.

I take my Lamictal in the morning at 8pm and in the evening at 6pm, before supper. Works for me.

Depending on your metabolism it might be okay to take a little less at night and a little more in the morning, but I would check with your neuro first. You might also want to consider the extended release version, Lamictal XR, which you take just once a day.

I take Keppra XR, Tegretol XR and Lamictal right now- and for my Tegretol its 600mg a day, taking 1 pill in the morning and 2 at night. Neuro told me that it will help me sleep and I won't be getting a high dose or all of the dose during the day- that was when I was in college a year ago.

I think three meds is too much for me..

Lamictal has made my migraines worse while on two other meds.. kinda strange.
I lowered my Keppra XR down by 1000mg and my Tegretol XR down by 200mg per day. I know I'm not supposed to- but I can't see my neuro until March and already had to go to ER for migraine and allergic reaction to Excedrin and seizure in the morning.. no good.

Take care

I took Lamictal a couple of years ago for my myoclonic siezures. And it kept me up. I took more at night because thats more when I had the myos. I am just grateful I don't take it anymore.

I tried to convince my Dr. to let me get off of Lamictal. He didn't like that idea though. He said the DMV would not like hearing that especially since I have still not heard from them whether I can keep my license or not. He was OK with me taking 300mg in the morning and 100mg at night though. I hope I start sleeping better now. I think I am going to try the trick of taking it at 7AM and 5PM.
