So I just came from my neuro appointment and he has added Lamictal to my daily meds. I'm already on 3,000mg of Keppra each day and he wants me to start taking 25mg twice per day. The reason for this is that I've been having break trough partials for some time now and they've become more frequent lately. What are some of your experiences on lamictal and what should I expect or watch out for? Thx!

My wife just started taking it for bipolar disorder. She is on 25mg as well for now. She will work her way up. So far, the only side-effect is drowsiness. It will probably hit you hard for a couple days. That is her only complaint so far. If you're on 3000mg Keppra, you are used to that.

I asked and got a laundry list from other forum members. I'm sure they won't be far behind. Glad you're on something else with the partials peeking through. Its a Sh***y feeling.

I'm on both of your meds. I'm not sure if it is the Keppra or the Lamictal but one or both is giving me substantial hair loss. Sucks.

Hair loss I'm ok with...just look at my pic! :) As far as drowsiness, you're right, I'm already there. Keppra makes me constantly tired and was a grump ^ss for the first couple of months when they maxed my dose. Nurse told me that lamictal is a "happy" pill...hmmm...well all I can say is I hope so!

Not a happy pill, but a mood stabilizer. A happy pill would give you a high, but Lamictal should, in theory, prevent sudden highs and lows.

She should have said, its a "meh" pill. :roflmao:

During the first month or so Lamictal definitely made me perkier and kind of hyper-focused, but that effect wore off. Aside from that, it hasn't affected my moods (which have always been pretty stable). Everyone reacts differently however, and some folks do have problems with mood-related side effects when they are on Lamictal.

I am lamictal and my hair has been falling out. It has also given me headaches at 300 mg per day. After 4 months seizure free. I had a breakthrough seizure last Thursday. So I am supposed to try upping the dose to 400 mg per day. We'll see.
