Well today I saw my neurologist after having a new MRI, EEG and a neuropsychological assessment. He felt that some of my concerns about memory issues are related to the lesions that they said that I have. He doesn't think my memory issues and sleep issues are necessarily related to the Lamotrigine. He talked about how depression can sometimes cause this. He suggested possibly seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist

My wife was actually with me this time. She tried to recount as many issues that occurred in the past and my neurologist agreed that he believes that all the issues I had in the past were seizures.

He said to make sure that the issues with emotions / emotion regulation, memory and sleep are not related to the Lamotrigine he is going to do a medication change from Lamotrigine to Vimpat. I have roughly a six week change over period where I will work period to go to a dose of 400mg a day (200mg morning and evening.)

Anybody have any issues with Vimpat? I was on dilantin, carbamazepine and Lamotrigine and switched to varying issues. :e:

I'm not sure there are any A. E. D. medications without issues (I'm assuming you are meaning side effects). Of course this will vary with each individual, and some will lessen as one becomes used to the medication. For me: I had eye/light sensitivity that decreased over time but never completely went away, mild fatigue and mild muscle weakness. I stuck with it for not quite a year; although it decreased seizures a lot for around 6-8 months, the benefit didn't last.

I on lamc and my memory makes me near suicdal at times also lesions on brain and I wondere if lamc can do that.Any depression I have is due to memory problems.lemc can cause irrational mood swings,I never knew that until read it onhere learning that dotted few 'I' for me as one reasons think going barking mad.Be veryintrested to know how you get on with it bc think nuro may suggest something like that to me as appear lamc obviously not working if eeg still showing spikes of tempraral lobe I would thing if eeg should be normal if Meds were workingI wondering if muscle weakness in eyes could be Meds aswel if you say say that masterjen..Fatigue lack of sleep yes know feeling very well.CAtch 22 on that one.Buggered if you do buggered if you dont

Hi
I switched from Lamotrigine to Vimpat, about 6 months ago, recently (about 2 weeks ago) swapped tablet for the syrup, due to gastrointestinal issues (still no change there but we live in hope). Also, I feel jaded all the time. Optermistically I'm putting that down to being in pain in lower left abdomen most of the time, but I'm sure Vimpat is playing its part!
All the medication (Carbamezapine, Lamicatal & Vimpat) I've been perscribed has given me good seizure control (I believe), its just those dam side effects!
