I have mostly heard about people biting their tongues during seizures which has also been my case in the past. However, during my most recent seizure I instead bit down on my bottom lip. Hard. It's only been a few days and the swelling is going down, but i can still feel my teeth marks on the back of my lip and it's still mostly numb. I've bit it while eating several times and am hardly able to whistle. I'm concerned i may have cause some nerve damage and i'm hoping this will just be a gradual healing process. I'm wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience and if so, did the feeling in your lip come back?

Hi flyoverstates, welcome to CWE!

The lips and gums will heal, but you'll need to be patient, particuarly if you keep re-injuring the area while eating. If you can, try and stick to soft foods for awhile. My sister once bit all the way through her lip with her teeth (it was a bicycle accident); it was number at first but it healed eventually, without even a scar.
