We picked up our younger from IL State University in Bloomington/Normal today--it's about 110 miles from our house. His dorm roommates had left Monday/Tuesday. He warned us, but I COULD NOT believe it when I saw the FILTH those 2 left behind. They left many belongings behind, some of which my son put on a table in the common area where had left stuff, too. There was SO much dust on the floor in the areas they used that as we swept the room that it accumulated into balls & stuck to the broom!! Luckily, since he had already packed everything, it just took us that one trip from his room to the van to take his things out. He and I did it all while my husband waited in the van, circling until a parking spot was available. It actually took the two of us LONGER to get an elevator down once we had everything loaded than the actual loading or room cleaning processes--we had to wait 30 minutes for one!!

Lol. Sounds like you know the perfect gift for your younger for the next gift giving occasion (vacuum cleaner).

I am SO happy that my son will be in an apartment next year with some friends. That place it literally behind the dorm building he was in--you could see it from his window. For one thing, it will get him used to doing MORE of the housework he needs to learn to do, other than just laundry. The MAJOR factor though is that his dormmates were a PAIN! He had even complained to the RA about the things they did, & once, the police were called because of their actions!
