Hi...
My name is Bev so I'll start out by saying I'm new to this. However, lets get to WHY I'm here!
I've had epilepsy for 23 years.
Up until recently I feel like my whole system is outta whack since beginning new meds (Lamotrigine for seizures, nortriptyline for migraine prevention).
Whether or not these are associated, who knows...
With my partial seizures (which cause de-jevu) OR headaches, that have always been associated with it, the right side of my mouth twitches, sometimes to the point the pitch of my voice rises or I stutter when speaking.
Only now, I am experiencing this 30 times a day and up! Aside from all this, I have been having hot flashes several times a day that cause red blotches on upper body.
If someone could offer some advice that would be great, I really need to ease my mind and know that I'm not the only one out there going through this and maybe someone could shine some light on it 4 me.
Thanx to all who had the patience to read all of this!!!

Hey Bev, welcome to CWE!

Any time you make a change in your meds it can take awhile for your body to adjust, and there may be new or different side effects. If the side effects are lousy, or the meds aren't controlling your seizures, then maybe they aren't the right meds for you. Since you mentioned the hot flashes, it may be the case that hormonal changes can affect seizures, and also how consistently the meds work. Definitely talk to your doctor about the increase in seizures and hot flashes.

Hi Bev, welcome!

Nakamova makes some good points. Definitely talk to your doctor and maybe he'll recommend a different medication.

Don't worry you're not alone, we're all here for each other!

Please clarify something for me... up until recently you feel like your system is outta whack? or it was fine until recently?

Meds were a disaster for my daughter. Perhaps some might say I did not wait long enough to get past the weaning period, but the side effects were NOT acceptable.

I have gone a different route. You can read about it at by clicking the link near my signature.
