Do any of you recommend a certain company or brand? I like to get mine personalized with phone numbers, but I wasn't very pleased with my most recent one because the engraving was really shallow and it is already almost worn out after only a year of use. That's what I get for buying cheap, I suppose. Anyway, this time I want to get one of decent quality. Any recommendations or warnings?

I got mine from medic alert. www.medicalert.org

They are expensive, but they do a good job. lol... I was complaining because I thought the engraving was too deep!
Watch and make sure they don't engrave any specific drug allergies on the pendant. I had two on there with the words "drug allergies." I landed in the emergency room and they thought those were my ONLY two drug allergies and proceeded with all due haste, before calling and getting all the data. So if you have one and have it engraved and add another in the system later... uh, oh.

You can also get a medic alert account but not buy your jewelry from there. Some companies are sticky about engraving the medic alert 800 number and your identification number on your ID bracelet (copyright laws), but most will do it.

I want a gold ID necklace and I think it would be MUCH cheaper through medicalert.org

Thanks, Endless! I already went ahead and ordered an alert charm from Oneida-medical-jewelry.com, simply because it was cheapish, and I was referred there by Epilepsy.com. Hope it pans out! =/ I got the charm style because I want to just get a bracelet I like, and then when I need a new charm, I can just order the charm instead of the bracelet. Charms seem to be a tad cheaper. Anyway, I hope they're a decent company! I'll let you know how it looks when it gets here.

Ooooooo make sure you pop us a picture up when it comes! It's good to Have I think. I always have mine on

Yep, I agree! I'm wearing mine right now. It's getting hard to read though, and the info is outdated. This time I chose not to list my medications, since everything is still sorta up in the air around here. It's a little unnerving, though. The E. website listed the place I ordered from, but they still haven't sent me a confirmation email. I hope it's just because it's late at night. Maybe it will appear in the morning. Makes me nervous.

I never Got an email from where I ordered mine from either hun. So sent them a mail just to double check sand I got a reply next day confirming it and giving me a delivery date. Pretty sure if they recommended it you will be fine. Did you check your spam?

I wear a medic alert bracelet and IMO, they are the best. And they are well worth the $$, so they are not that expensive. My life is worth it. I have an ongoing account with them and when things change I just call them and they update my info. So if I ever have a bad seizure and land in the hospital again, hopefully they will see it and call because all my meds are listed as well as my other health issues besides E.

Cint, it seemed like they had some really nice services! I grabbed something cheap for the time being, but I'm definitely going to keep them in mind. Especially if my seizures continue to be stubborn after all this medication hopping.

Cherri, I did check my spam folder. I got up this morning, and still no email, so I called them. Good thing I did! The shopping cart charged my credit card, but they did not receive any of my information for what I wanted engraved on it! So we straightened it all out, and now all is well. They said they will have it out today, so I'll be expecting it sometime this week, along with the bracelet I ordered from a different site.

I'm excited because I was also able to find a little Christian themed charm to attach to the bracelet as well. Makes the bracelet more fun and not so medical. XP

Oooh that's really cool jem. Sounds like you found a good one can't wait to see it. Glad you managed to get it straightened out with them. Last thing you needed is stress over it

My Medic Alert bracelet is through the Australian Medic Alert Foundation & it is definitely worth the money.
I'm registered with the Medic Alert foundation so once a year I pay a small fee to keep my information updated.
On the inside of my bracelet is epilepsy, the Medic Alert Foundations phone number & my registration number. I also have a Medic Alert card which has all the relevant information - My details, My Neurologists contact number, My emergency contact, what meds I'm on, blood group, any allergies or other medical problems I may have.

I was considering getting a second charm with my neurologist's info on it, but I am in a weird limbo right now with doctors. I *love* my neurologist down in Edmonds, but it's a bit far, and with not being able to drive it makes it that much more inconvenient for others. I've been having so many issues, that she recommended I transfer to a doctor up here because it will be easier and simpler to consult from a home base rather than having to go so far all the time. Plus, in case of emergency, doctor response would be quicker because of proximity. So I am trying this new guy. I know you can't really judge a neurologist on the first visit because it takes time to build a rapport with them. So I am trying to give him a fair shot.

But dang, I miss my old neurologist. I dunno. What would you do?

Anyway, all that to say, I can't really order a doctor charm until I decide which doctor I will stick with.

I keep thinking if I go for all the brain surgery candidacy testing, I will have to go even further south than she is, so if I'm already heading down there, then why not stay with her?

She says I am welcome to stay if I prefer to. But she really wants me to give this guy a go, because if it works out, it would definitely be more logical to stay with the close guy.

I got mine a while back at a jewelry store. I'm not sure if it's a certain brand but I don't think it's a Medic Alert. I like it because it's pretty and not big and bulky (I've got small wrists). I know it wasn't that cheep but the thing has lasted for at least 6 years and I've never had any problems with it.

I've got my name on the back, I'm allergic to dilantin (that's the only one for me) and that I have epilepsy.

Same here with the small wrists--I wanted to go with something a little slighter that didn't look so sterile and unattractive. I never thought of looking at a jewelry store! I'm going to keep my eyes peeled now to see if any around here carry them.

Mines kinda hard to describe. Its got a metal bit with my name and all that on it and it comes with 8 silicone bands with different colours you can attach it to so I can change the colour as I wish. Wanted to give with something a bit different.

That's cool, I like the idea of being able to coordinate colors with whatever you're wearing.

Since you guys were asking, here's a pic of the bracelet. (The fish charm hasn't arrived yet.)

Ohhh that's brill! Doesn't look to medically If you get my point. Looks like a charm bracelet but medics will still see the logo. Love it!
