I just had a knock on the door. It was the land lord wanting the rent. I totallly forgot about the rent. :bigmouth: I was even ballancing my check book this moring and thinking I sure have a lot of mony let over!
Fortunatly I have a very understanding land lord. I hate these memory issues!

that real bummer when think got money and not...i ended up with host of bills cos i forget

pita -
Thats good that you have an understanding landlord.
Do you have a calendar or diary which you can use to make note of anything you have to pay eg - at such date on each week/fortnight/month pay rent.

I thought I had a good system. I get paid every other week. This month wss a 3 check month. With every thing else going on holiday eeg. I just plan forgot. :-)

I keep a list of all the bills that need paid every month on a post it hung up on the wall in my office - Rent, electricity, gas, phone etc..

As each one get's paid then it gets crossed off the list, this way I know I don't miss any. I have some bills that come automatically out of my checking account each month so I make sure they are on that list so that I know to take the money out of my check book.

Once the list is all crossed off then I make a new one for the next month. This has worked pretty good for me so far.

I am surrounded by lists, calendars and clocks! When they carry my dead body out of here they're going to think..."this lady had a time, date and todo fetish." :p

I have a lousy short term memory too, I think it's from all the head trauma's plus having brain atrophy. I have great long term memory but tell me something and I forget it 5 minutes later. Ihave to have calendars to keep track of appointments, mainly cause I have so many a year. I have four doctors I see a year, most every three to six months so I see each of them twice a year at least, now that I'm better, was more often when I was sick. I sometimes forget what I am going to do 2 minutes after I think of it and sometimes I think of something at work to do when I get home and forget it and never remember. Hate to think of what I'll be like at 60.

We all forget at times but it's good that your landlord did remind you so you didn't get to far behind with the rent .

I get paid each fortnight so I find the bets way to remember to pay my bills is the day before I get paid I will do up a budget with how much money I will have then what needs to be paid for the fortnight. The 1st thing I allow for is the rent (which gets paid fortnightly) then I allow a little for gas & electricity (I pay a bit of both each fortnight so I'm ahead by the time I get the bills), then food & how much I allow myself for the fortnight. I then know how much I have left in the bank & if I can afford to buy something I might need.
