Does anyone have minor or severe memory loss after they have a seizure?
Lately I'll have one of the two. It used to just be minor.

Ohhhhhh yes and getting worse,I think the memory causes most of us on here quite some distress

Yes, very much. After a seizure I will have minor or major memory problems and even interictally.

Lots. I will get up to go get something or do something and have become a professional forgetter

After my very first seizure, which was very bad, I lost over 10 years of memory. Some stayed up there but not much. I had no clue who the guy was that I'd been dating for the year before that seizure.

At first after a seizure I might loose a few hours to a few days of memory. This lasted a few years but the time of the memory loss shortened to a few minutes to a few hours now after a seizure.

In general now I'll start to forget things that happened after about 6 months. People will tell me things that I've done and I have no clue of it. At times I'll remember something but what I'm told wasn't exactly happened, close though.

It drives me crazy!

After a day of seizures I'll lose about 8 hours memory. It comes back but it's frustrating to say the least on it.

Hi Lonewolf,

Every time after a seizure I have memory loss but I have to admit it's better since I had surgery. According to my neurosurgeon the more seizures a person has then the
memory can get worse because the seizures can shrink and harden the hippocampus
where our short term memory is. I know my right hippocampus shrunk so much that when I had my seizure surgery they removed the right hippocampus because it wasn't doing me any good. My Dr. told me to do a lot of math, word search puzzle and crossword puzzle to better my memory. Also go on line and type in brain teasers and see
if you can figure out a simple riddle that will also help the short term memory. Wishing you only the best and May God Bless You!

well I just learn something from you the hippocampus I saw my doc this week far removed from e he reading my notes said ischmic brain and hippocampus not getting good supply of blood really depressed me bit more cheered not that you got that but to know not uncommon I not only one you think my nuero said something
As for math afraid non starter not going do much for me may aswel talk in chinease.I am trying do Spanish learn as you sleep got as far as por favour and amigo I ok with reading it but speaking I have problems and going Madrid soon.remmebering ticket pass ports where exactly am I going plus no clue how find airport so I have to use brain for that.my poor friend thinks I fluent she got shock coming, aslong remember casa salvidori and no even remember how spell that.

I'm usually pretty good at remembering things but it gets to me that this happens so much. I'm not a candidate for brain surgery as seizures come from all over my brain not just one place.

I not have surgery unless 100%sure e gone memory better and never have migraine again.judging by posts I read often no difference but some get good results.A doctor once mildly said something the option there but he advised no but that back in 80s things changed since then

I try to use the same password for everything but you can't always do that and it drives me crazy. Some passwords have to have uppercase letters and some can't. Some have to have a symbol (like #,$,%) and some can't. Some web sites have to have two passwords. Some have to have the password changed monthly. And then there are the times that I've forgotten the password and need to change it.

I've started writing down the web site, user name and password down on post it's and sticking them to the wall above my desk. I keep all the important ones together, like web sites for bills and web sites I get on a lot. My family yells because it looks horrible, I've got over 20 post it's on the wall. But hey - you got to do what you got to do!

I found this great gadget you hold in hand it was specifically invented for the blind I got it from blind catalog you must have similar in States .it little recorder very easy to use

Definitely have had memory loss. One time post-seizure I thought my laptop had been stolen. Then a friend reminded me that I had taken it to be repaired...

I know that both of the AEDs (Topamax and Vimpat) I'm on cause short-term memory issues. "Dopamax" is the worst. It even causes word-loss issues--I can see what I want to say in my mind as if it's on paper, but can't connect my brain & mouth.
I'm totally unaware of my complex partials occurring unless someone else witnesses them or I do something to myself/my surroundings.

Yes, but now it's to the point that I have permanent memory loss. I am having testing done as soon as possible to see what is going on. It is about 5 sessions that last 2-3 hours each. The soonest I can get an appointment is December. My neuro is trying to speed up the appointment time. At this point I am almost hoping it is caused from stress.
