I met a seizure dog a few weeks ago and I keep forgetting to post about it (imagine that me forgetting something????)

I was in the hospital waiting while my grandfather had surgery when a man came in with a little dog in a carrier. He opened the carrier and the dog just stayed in it.

I thought it was a little weird that a man brought a dog into the hospital and had the door open for it and it would be able to get out so I asked him about it.

He told me that it was a seizure dog. The dog could tell when he was going to have a seizure and make sure he gets to a safe place. He even said that the dog reminds him when it's time to take his medicine, which I thought was pretty amazing!

I couldn't believe that a dog that small would be able to do all that.

Do you know what breed it was? A lot of small dog breeds are smart and good for training.

I think it was a mixed breed but I don't remember what he said they were. It was a small furry dog not much bigger than a cat.

I have been on a waiting list for a Seizure Service Dog, from Canine Assistance, out of Alpharetta, Ga. going on four years and I have finally been contacted. These dogs are trained for other services, but also for those with seizures. They are completely free, and they pay for everything while you own the animal, food, vet, etc. I personally am excited!! They use labs, golden retrievers, and the larger poodles.
They are online too.
