I have been on lamictal and tegretol xr for quite a while. I moved back into my house during the summer and ever since then I have not had a period. It's been almost five months since!!! I raised my meds once since then and I am still unsure what is causing this absence.

I'm not sure if meds contribute to maybe missing periods?

Has anyone else experienced this problem??

SORRY to any guys who clicked and read this. LOL just click the back button.

love, jackie.

Have you spoken with you Doctor about this?
If not you should ...

my daughter is on 3 meds and never stopped her periods. She's taken both lamictal and tegretol as well (although not at the same time) and she still had periods. I'd ask the gyno about it.

Jackie
Hi. My periods didn't stop when I was on the tegretol & lamictal combo. Unless you're going through menopause, 5 months is a long time to go w/o a period. I'd let your neurologist know, especially since it sounds like you're getting worried. Take care, Jackie.

seems that something is out of balance in your system.
There is information about how this is a common occurance for woman with E. However, I am not sure what came first....

This has not been the case with my daughter, though her seizures do tend to occur around her cycle. She is being treated for this though with a bio identical progesterone. Perhaps your doctor can test your hormone levels and consider doing something to get your "monthlies" regulated again.

I am just worried because I am 20. I've taken like five pregnancy tests-all negative. It's driving me to paranoia. Going to the gyno right now is not covered by my insurance until the next year...which isn't that far away.

thanks for your help.

Stress doesn't help the situation either.
Next year is right around the corner, so enjoy the end of the year, eat healthy and treat yourself like a queen.

I'm "Premium Irregular" - so it's not unusual for me
to be missing cycles, if you can't see your Gynecologist,
then aim for your Primary Care!

*grins*

The Primary Care Physician are perfectly capable of
handling issues like these, and PLUS so are Neurologists
and Epileptologists too!

Hope this helps - if you are unable to see the Gynecologist
sooner - they can cover the base!

Just a question:

I understand that your insurance would only cover the annual exam once a year, but if you have a medical issue--ie unexplained absence of a period or irreg periods, that would not, or atleast shouldn't, be considered the annual visit or check-up . Just like going to your primary for an annual physical is different than you going for a sinus infection.

As I said, just a question
