Hello all!

Hope you had a wonderful and seizure-free holiday. I am taking my 16 year old daughter tomorrow for an MRI and MRA. She has been unable to see since her complex partial seizure on Dec 14th. One of her doctors recommended and MRS, but insurance wouldn't approve. I am upset because the MRS is being omitted. Should I be?

Thanks to all and hoping you have a happy and healthy 2013,

Tom

I can't imagine what you must be going thru. Hopefully you'll get some answers from tomorrows tests. I cannot imagine how scary it must be, not being able to see after a seizure. I'll be thinking about you guys tomorrow. Hope you check in soon and tell us how it went.

Can you have your Dr. write a letter to the insurance company?

I Hope the appt. is going well.

Keep us posted.

Tom, I sure hope you find some answers. I can't wrap my brain around an insurance company not thinking a MRS isn't needed in a situation a child can not see after a seizure!!! Total bull crap! Good luck!

Tom,

My goodness, they put worry on top of utter worry….damn them…sorry, makes me so angry.

Gosh, I am so sorry her sight has not improved, scary is understatement

Your daughter and you will be in the prayers tonight....may some light be shed tomorrow.

From what the staff said, they did the MRS. I have to confirm with the Dr. She was a real trooper last night. In the machine for nearly two and a half hours. The tech did get a call from someone reading the results and they re-did one. No one told us why.

Awaiting a call from the doctor as we slowly get crazy. The silence is deafening. Hopefully Monday.......

Thank you all for the good wishes!

Tom

Waiting is the worst. Glad you got the MRS though! Keep us posted and try to relax and think positive :)

Saying a prayer for a simple answer.
My daughter lost her memory for a few months. I know how scary this can be.
Rebecca had this test done twice over a period of a few years, to compare the images. Thankfully for us there were no changes.

Make sure her nutrition is excellent during this trying time. Neurotoxins can cause hearing, vision, memory loss along with other odd symptoms.

Hi,

Apparently I was mistaken. No MRS, but after much kicking and screaming, we finally got a report on Friday, a week after the test. The Dr. is being difficult. She is complaining that they did the MRA, because a note in the report about an irregularity in PCA and PICA will make her re-do it (as if it is her money paying for it). Perhaps it is important, she poo pooed it. I think it is time for a new neurologist.

The waiting is painful

Thank you all for concern.
Tom

The waiting is very painful Tom. :(

I hope you get some kind of answers soon.

And yes, probably is time to find a new dr. Listen to your heart.

**hugs**

Yes, you deserve a neurologist who will take your daughter's condition seriously and pay due attention to what matters most -- figuring out what's going on, and how to treat it as soon as possible.

Please let us know what you find out. My thoughts are with you and your family.

wondering how your little lady is doing? she is being prayed for....

Thanks Chaz,

No improvement. Neuroopthamologist wants to do a visual field test next week. She can't see herself in the mirror. I don't know what he is testing.

We made an appointment with a new neurologist. Have to get all her records, which is another challenge. I am at a loss. Thanks for the prayers.

Tom

oh my goodness Tom, I am so,so sorry. I just cannot imagine the worry and your poor little lassie must be distraught. the utter heartbreak...

I heading to the neurologist today with my Son, he had another T/C this morning, he is having breaktrhoughs and they seem to be stepping up and coming faster :-(

we need to stay positive and leave no stone unturned in helping them....

I am upping the prayers big time for your daughter and you.
