MRI results back, have some questions....

Well, I got my MRI results back and I was wondering if anyone else had this same thing. My doctor told me I have to have a c-spine MRI because my Odontoid is thickened. I dont even know what the heck that is! The doctor asked if I have ever had a car accident or whiplash type injury.

I have never been in a car accident or had a serious fall or whiplash or anything like that. I tried using google but there is nothing helpful or anything that even makes sense to me. It is alot of medical jargon.

Could a problem in my neck cause simple partial seizures? I have been on Keppra for 6 weeks now and have not had a spell since starting it. I am a 32 year old female.

Anyone else have this?

The Odontoid is a toothlike bump on the second cervical vertebra, located at the back of the neck. It's at the pivot point for turning the head. If the area is thickened or damaged it can compress the nerves or blood veins, which can in turn potentially cause neurological symptoms -- including migraine and seizure symptoms. Sometimes the area is damaged due to injury, or thickens due to arthritis resulting from the injury. That's why your doc was asking about a fall or whiplash.

cervical vertbra the odontoid i think is area of the bone,injury to this area is usually whip lash.i think the bone is thickened could cause blood flow problems also posible it give you menior ddisease feeling aswell feel you falling down blood gets cut off to middle ear,you got get him to explain
