Hey people!

I have only had one grand mal seizure ( April) & had an eeg Wednesday just gone. This morning I have received a letter to say that I have got to have an mri done in 2 weeks time. Does this mean that they saw something on my eeg?

Thanks! It's just that I'm getting rather nervous!

:-)

Hi Robyn! I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. It is mostly just a routine test that a lot of Neurologist do so that they have a baseline of your brain. I have had both, and a video eeg. The two have never been linked, other than a test for a test sake. If you are nervous, just call the dr.'s office and ask them why they want to do the test. My guess is it is just crossing their T's and dotting their I's. Let us know how you do!

I had both an EEG and an MRI, EEG was normal. And thank goodness my Neurologist ordered the MRI cause they wouldn't have found the bleed if they didn't & I probably would have died. An MRI is nothing. A doctor explained it to me that a cat scan is like reading a book up close and MRI is like reading a book far away. The MRI gets a better picture of your brain, more detail. It's just a precaution.
