Ive been trying to google this, but cant seem to find anything "good" on it.

Yesterday morning I saw the dr and they dr prescribed me antibiotics for MRSA. He said to continue putting warm compressed on it and to start the medication right away. He even cultured it, but didnt lance it, just used a neddle to get some thing out. Since then, today its now HUGE. Hard on the surface and this morning I got our pus. :( So the only thing I can think of is what when he cultured it, and made that little opening, it was enough to let whatever was down below come to the surface and now Im getting very little out. But its hard on the surface. My fear is that Im going to have to have this lanced. I dont see how in the world the antiobiotics are going to Obsorve this and make it go away?

Im praying to god I dont have to have to have it lanced, but thought id check here to see if anyone else had this experience and did it go away without having it lanced? I got in touch with the nurse and she said she is going to call me back after she tells the doctor what I told her about the differences since yesterday morning.

Well, I went back to the doctors, and he opened it up. Alot of white stuff came out, but he thinks alot of the reason why it looks so puffy is because there is blood under there. Instead of the pus. Im so hoping he is right. He said by taking the antibiotics it should help. They havnt got the culture back on yet, which I thought they had got it yesterday since he prescribed me the gel for my face. But apparently he just decided to give me the gel too instead of waiting to hear what the culture came back as.

So, Im in the waiting boat again. Im praying it gets better and heals fast!

becareful with the anti-biotics i know we all need em when were sick my neuro almost stopped mine when i got sick in feb. b/c it brought on seizures and he said that they raise your seizure chances.

I took this same antibiotic in February and did fine with it. Im allergic to sulfa medications, so im glad I brought in the prescription information that came with the medication to the doctors yesterday. Otherwise he would have prescribed me a different medication. The medication Im taking now is clindamycin. Ive taken 4 dosages of it so far, and have another 17 left to go. Im just praying to god it helps heal this crap!

yeah I was put on sulfa drugs a year or two ago and my face swelled up so bad! It was gross and embarrassing!

Did u ask about the hibiclens? Or is it a sulfa?

Sorry you're going thru this. :(

I picked up some hibicleans yesterday at target. Wasnt too bad... $5.99 for a bottle. I have been using it on my hands when I change the bandage and making sure everything is clean! I did go back yesterday and they cut it open alittle. He recommended I dont put anything on it over the night, and this morning it was "flater"... not as puffy looking. Im just hoping now its a scab that will heal. They cultured it tuesday and said it would take 3 days to get back, so If I dont hear back from them today, I will for sure be calling them tomorrow.

The doctors office called and said the culture came back. There was a trace of MRSA in there. But they said based off of the results, the medication they prescribed for me would work for treating it. So, in the meantime, Im going to take it easy and try to relax.

I have about 43 more minutes left til I have three kids home with me for the summer!
