I haven't heard of the first Aussie, but I know the guy in Crocodile Dundee. As a kid I remembering watching that movie constantly. And because of that movie I was convinced everyone in Australia had a bowie knife and cool boots like him. Maybe you all do?

Ok I think the first one means, "the person is a little odd?" I'm probably totally wrong haha.

Iowaian? I have no idea, but it is pretty exotic and tropical in Iowa....
We are actually pretty plain with our expressions in the Midwest. Though I can't speak for the country, they might talk slightly different then we do.

Ok the results are in. You got the first one right! A few roos loose in the top paddock refers to someone being a bit weird or as we like to say "special". "Kick it in the guts" means turn the ignition on. It stems from a horse riding analogy, although you should never "kick" a horse, you should squeeze politely =)

So you pass!! However I suggest you continue your research to enhance your knowledge of the "Great Southern Land". Now, time to practice your pronounciation...."OSTRAAAAYLYA"

I have a knife, boots, an Akubra (cowboy hat) and a stockwhip. But I'm a bit weird, and i've lived in country areas. The city slickers don't usually possess these things. Their weapons of choice are heels and briefcases.

Oh i'm serious badass.... i've been known to hijack a gopher (elderly person's electric scooter thing) and drive it down the street while cracking a stockwhip and yodelling.

I think there are a couple of things American relate to Aussies which is
1 - Crocodile Dundee
2 - Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter
3 - The quote 'the dingo got my baby' from Lindy Chamberlain. You may have heard of the story of Azaria Chamberlain a little baby who went missing in 1980 when her family were camping.

Azaria Chantel Loren Chamberlain (11 June 1980 – 17 August 1980) was an Australian baby girl who was killed by a dingo on the night of 17 August 1980, on a family camping trip to Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock) in the Northern Territory. Her body was never found. Her parents, Lindy and Michael Chamberlain, reported that she had been taken from their tent by a dingo, however Lindy was tried for murder and spent more than three years in prison. She was released when a piece of Azaria's clothing was found in a dingo lair, and new inquests were opened. In 2012, some 32 years after Azaria's death, the Chamberlains' version of events was officially confirmed by a coroner.

Many of the slang Aussie terms are simple and are used in America. Wuss is a good example because it is the same but I am not sure Aussies use the term wussy as well. Not sure if Technicolor yawn is really Aussie either. Although I would go there just to hear the phrase white pointers used, if the term really is used.
 
Hey Knothing, assuming your talking about our sharks, we call them Great Whites, more so than white pointers. Not sure about the technicolour one though!
 
I am officially not allowed to go to your country per my family........because I would more than likely move there for good.
 
Nnothing, Straaayla is pretty cool! But Kentucky sounds pretty cool! Tell me about it =) Do you eat KFC? lol
 
KFC......LOL. We do occasionally and sadly that is not the last time I will be asked that. Kentucky has a lot of traditions like basketball and horse racing. Most of KY is rural area with small towns and farms. I will tell you that nothing is as good as homemade fried chicken ....... not even KFC.
 
HAHAHA poor you. I knew I wouldn't be the first or the last to ask you about KFC! People ask me if I wrestle crocodiles. I tell them yes.

Small towns and farms sound lovely. I'm a country girl at heart and have lived all over Western Australia. I love it here. My best weekends involved jumping in my ute with my dogs and zooming along a straight open road, headed for the farm =)
