As I said in other posts, for the moment I don't have a driver's license. My Dr. is filling out the DMV form requesting that they allow me to drive but the form has not been turned into the DMV yet.
My Dad is also dying at the moment so I am on FMLA. The hospital said less than a week ago he has 24 hours to a week left. So I am not just on FMLA for the driver's license situation. I got a certified letter in the mail today saying I have to:
1) Go on an unpaid leave of absence (I'm already on FMLA)
2) Look for another job where I work that doesn't require a driver's license
3) Retire if I am eligible (I am not)
4) Resign from my job.
The classic part is as of 2 days ago, my Boss, my Boss's Boss, and the Human Resouces Manager agreed to let me come back to work until I get my license back. The individual who sent me this letter did NOT inform my Boss, my Boss's Boss, the Human Resources Manager, nor HER Boss that she sent me this letter. Can we say sneaky? I will be calling the union Monday.
Under FMLA they are required by law to allow me to take as much as 3 months off. So I am actually am not that worried. I may even get my license back after I get my DMV hearing (Doesn't that take about 10-14 days after the hearing?)
