Hiya! I come to this forum with an empty cup....in other words, to learn and share with others....because I think that experience sometimes offers more answers than science can account for.

Beginning a year ago, I have been having episodic neurological events that have yet to be confirmed as epilepsy. I will have a video EEG next week and am prayerful that it will give direction to regaining my lifestyle.

To date, I have been tested for everything from MS to lupus, to vitamin and mineral deficiency. I was referred to epileptologist who feels I classically fit description of simple partial seizures of the insular cortex.

Hi Emptycup, welcome to CWE!

I hope the vEEG proves helpful. If it comes back normal, don't despair. Your epileptologist sounds like he/she may be confident enough in the diagnosis to consider treatment without the EEG confirmation.

Have you noticed any particular triggers for your episodes? If you keep a symptom diary, you may be able to identify stressors (like fatigue or low blood sugar) that a play a secondary role in bringing on the symptoms.

Best,
Nakamova

Hey Emptycup.

Video EEGs can be a pain in the ass. I had one not long ago. Well, it was more an EEG with sleeping hours on camera. At first it showed nothing. AT FIRST. The doctor read the EEG at any point I (or wifey) triggered the machine. Nothing out of the ordinary.... until I suggested the neurologist look over things. Immediately I go on new medicine because of my sleep behavior. The time spent wired up was worth it. I'm doing great now.

Share with us and we'll share with you. Welcome and best of luck with the EEG.

I had a sleep study a year ago for insomnia. I am going to suggest my neurologist take a look at the results.

Thank you for warm welcome

Thank you guys for welcoming me so warmly...and the encouragement.... :)

welcome emptycup ;)
best of luck with the video eeg, and all the best that it shows something. having a seizure on video can do wonders for further figuring of what's going on, mainly through lack of sleep and going off your meds. how long are you going in for? never nice to have a seizure but if it's one that gives answers it is SO worth it. good people taking care of you too, it's nice. i ended up staying 17 days and felt very comfortable due to the nurses; they offered laughs and relief to say the least.

re: doc thinking it's simple partials, did they explain what they're all about? simples are tricky in that there are so many symptoms, a few identical to other health issues (esp. PTSD). have a read at this article, nails the head on the hammer.

Funny story. I had an overnight sleep study done, but I never moved an inch. What a pain in the ass that was. Hop in the rig and go to the place late at night, then he got me up, and I asked, "did I move?" He says, "no, but you certainly don't have sleep apnea." Apparently he didn't get the memo....
