So, I went and saw my neurologist yesterday. It actually went really really well. Although I think I ticked him off a bit.

So we sat down, he asked how my day was going. We went on about our super cold weather. Then he asked how my absence seizes and such were. *first time he mentioned them as seizures* and then asked if I had anymore "on the ground" ones. That I had to be sarcastic with. My response was "nope, I had the majority of them on the ceiling and a few mid air." he didnt look impressed. I don't know about you guys, but if that actually happened I would be pretty darn impressed.

So we chatted about my EEG results. apparently I had almost accidently fallen asleep right at the beginning where they make you close your eyes and relax. They didnt let me sleep for the test, but i wasnt allowed to fall asleep during it either. Well just as I was almost alseep, they caught a blip. I hadnt realized I was drifting, but I was very relaxed. This blip lasted about 3 seconds.

They caught a second blip during the strobe light. I remember getting a bit of tingles during this part, but figured it was cuz I was tired and nervous about actually seizing. as coloured lights affect me and I wasnt sure if they would start to change. this one lasted about 1 minute. so I think it may have been an aura. but nothing generalized.

I was so sure that I had no activy at all and then there it is. and this seemed to make my neuro pretty excited as it no longer seemed like I was faking. So he scheduled a sleep deprived EEG and is alos looking into getting me a "take-with you" EEG for 72 hours. which would be nice to catch something else.

So I asked what else I could do to help with control and mentioned going gluten free. he was all for it. He has a sensitivity to it, so he knows how to go about this. He unfortunately knew nothing about neurofeedback.

He also is upping my dosage of Lamictal. I am at 100mg currently (50 mg twice daily) and starting today I am at 75mg twice daily. then in ten days i up it to 100 mg twice daily. he wants me to keep adding one pill in teh morning and evening every ten days till our next appointment. which is February 2. Does this seem a little fast?

but other than that...No tonic clonics since my burn one and the one the next morning. one whole week as of tomorrow. this is the second time i went a full week this month. which hasnt happened since I first had one. so I think I am doing really well on these meds, just need to find the right dose. WOO HOO!

My partnered was dosed up on lamotrigine at a faster rate than your neuro suggests, and he didn't have a problem with it (he went from 100 to 200 after 14 days, with no step in between). Personally, I would have chosen a more conservative route, sticking with the initial dose until it's evident that it's not enough, instead of automatically ramping up to 200.

Talk to your neuro if you're not comfortable with the quick pace.

Edit: By the way -- congratulations on the blips and your neuro taking you seriously!

That is great Rae! It is not great that you have E or anything but at least it has been discovered officially and the meds seem to be working. I am happy for you! I hope you can figure out the dose issue soon. Keep us posted. That is super news!

Glad to hear your getting somewhere! As you already know its all about balance!
Sorry you had to freeze to get your answers!
It a balmy -10 here in Mtl! :pfft:

lol Carful that the tongue your sticking out doesnt get stuck to any poles lol.

Hah -- after days and days of -20 to -30, we are at virtual spring weather in Calgary -- 0 C. That's right, ZERO. Read and weep my Canucky friends.

I didn't have to wear four layers of clothes today. It felt very liberating. Bouyant even.

Whaaat? Have I been snubbed for rubbing it in?

Aw... I'm sorry. I was wrong. It's actually 2 degrees.

;)

My response was "nope, I had the majority of them on the ceiling and a few mid air."

:roflmao: Thats great I needed a laugh.
I'm happy you are doing well and the docs believe you.

Hey Rae, great news about the EEG and LOL about the "on the ceiling" comment...
When I went onto Lamictal it took about 3.5 months to get up to 250mg. Your neuro may have you going a little fast, but it's hard to know -- he may be anxious to get you to a therapeutic dose. Definitely let him know if you're uncomfortable with the pace. And keep a record of any and all side effects as you're tapering up.

Wooohooo!!!!

YEAH FOR YOU, RAE!!! That's just so bloomin' cool that things are beginning to look up for you! *doing the happy dance*

As for the rest of you....:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I haven't picked myself up off the floor from laughing yet.......

I think I'm going to be warm after all tonight, with all this laughing I'm doing.....:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Congrats on making your Neurologist a believer. A positive step forward is always a positive!

Well you'll be happy to know that Karma came and frostbit me in the butt, it is currently -19 but feels like -30 with the wind chill! Kittysicle (who do I ask for a frozen smiley?)

hey yeah! lol I think we need a frozen smiley. or at lest a snowflake with eyes. lol something to signify "its so freaking cold!" lol

Please Bernard? lol I want for christmas is a frozen smiley face. lol

yes a frozen smiley face would be great for us Canadian folk... we've got plenty more cold days to come!!

Today Winnipeg is expecting a high of -7°C. Nice and balmy!

I'd happily tell you to "Bite me" but I'm worried something might break off lol!
My pipes at home froze, so no running water, and the thermostate at work is not working so our office is stuck at 15 degrees.
All I want for Christmas is a hot cocoa

*cough* chinooking today, -1 now, supposed to get to +5 *coughcough* :D

That won't last though. I'll need a frozen smilie soon enough. Come January/February at the absolute latest, I'll be Ralphie's little brother from A Christmas Story again.

(it won't let me embed :()

Awesome occb, I love that movie! My dad too, he was about Ralphie's age in the 50's so he can totally relate to it.

I love it when Randy has so many layers on he - "I can't put my arms down!!"

And when he gets knocked over - "I can't get up!!"

:roflmao:
