Woohoo i'm back!

Ooh i think it was just what i needed. Plus i saw some really cool thunderstorms :D

Blue seas, sunny skies (most of the time!). I need to get the pics uploaded now hehe.

Welcome back! Nothing like a change of scenery to help re-charge...

Busily uploading pics now. May be tomorrow by the time i've gathered them from various sources (3 different phones, a digital camera and the website of a bar we visited a lot)

Don't worry, i'm only going to post a few on here lol.

lol i can only remember a little gaelic. deireadh is stern, deo is breath(e) and saol im not sure but it might "think" but i thought it was spealt saoil? what does it say? lol

I wish Irish Gaelic was that easy lol.

One word can have 4 or 5 different meanings, depending on the context and where the accents are. Plus they're spelt differently depending on what region. Ie Scottish, Irish, and even sometimes Norse and Welsh! I know that the Irish versions are spelt/said differently depending on region/county etc, and is pretty much obsolete in the part i come from.

Which would explain why i only learned a little of it lol.

My sig means "Life of lives, beginning without an end, we are alive forever"

I should point out though that it isn't my own translation and it comes directly from a song. I thought it was a cool song lyric though :P

You from Ireland?

Weeee, it's just taken over ten minutes to get my photos onto facebook. God i look like a porker, but i know for myself that i've lost a fair bit of weight recently, so bugger what anyone else thinks haha! :pfft:

no, im not from there but my granddad is irish and scottish, as is my fiancee. Yeah i was thinking scottish gaelic i think. most words are strange when it comes to what it means depending on context. the only thing i made sure to know was how to ask if someone spoke english lol!!

You know, thats the first thing i find out when learning other languages - how to ask if they speak english!

I didn't speak a word of Spanish when i went away, but i know the very basics now.

What surprised me was that there was a french couple staying in the same apartment block, and i managed to explain why the pool guy was shouting at them (it was closed for siesta time), and understood and could reply when they asked where the nearest shops etc were!

Ok, so it was an extremely rudimentary conversation, but then i only did a couple of years of french at school, one hour a fortnight, and that was about 12 years ago :woot:

I should really try to learn more. Gaelic is a language which is fast disappearing unfortunately :(

agreed. Its such a beautiful language *unless of course its my great uncle who is yelling it at you and your not sure what he is saying!* and also realy hard to speak properly. rolling of the r is something i could never do. And im canadian! we have the rrrrroll up the rrrrim to win! *tim horton's coffee shop incase your unsure what im taking about!*

The rolling of the "r" is an accent thing lol. I may not have a proper Irish accent anymore, but some things hang around of their own accord!

Ok i better go to bed now ready to be up at 6am for work. Ick.

Pics tomorrow!

bed? lol im not evemn off work yet? lol its only 4:30pm here! lol

Ok, as promised here's some pics :D I hope they're not too big.

Much fun was had, and i'm a shade less pale than before! Also *psst psst* i lost another 5 and a half lbs while there lol.

Great pictures, Loopy Lou! Give yourself some credit - you're good looking young lady! Just one thing: how come you didn't try to do any Flamenco dancing? :D (J/K as usual!!)

Seriously, write a diary of your trip for yourself!! It will add to your memories in the future. Take it from one who's been to Europe!

Yeah i should do a diary :P I used to keep a diary of everything, but i suppose over the last year or so, habits have been slipping!
