I went to Birmingham to my neurologist and I told him I was having problems remembering things, moody, etc and this mainly started after going up on my zonegran from 3 to 4 pills, 100 mg each. I could feel that the zonegran were not helping like they use too. I also take Trieptal, 1500 mg a day, still on that. He's replacing the Zonegran with a new one that just been released over here this year, vimpat. I'm on my 3rd day of it and hopefully it will do better because he was looking at the list of pills that I have taken and it sounds like I only have a few left that I can try but they have some side effects. If someone is taking vimpat and its working good for them reply back if you don't care, let me know what you think about it.

To the people that created this site, Thank you.

Hey Bamafann, I had some of the same problems on Zonegran. I haven't tried Vimpat, but I hope it works out for you.

There are

about a half dozen people on this site that have tried Vimpat. One has proved to be allergic to it, and the others are having varying degrees of success with it.

One thing that I don't like about vimpat is that its extremely high! I asked the nurse if there was a genric which I figured there wasn't since it was new. There wasn't and she asked if I was in the doughnut hole on my insurance and I am and I dont come out until Jan of 2010. I'm on 7 pills because of high blood pressure, cholrestal (can't spell), and what I call my mood pill, plus my epilepsy meds. I looked up the price of this vimpat on the internet and it looked like it would be around $350 to $450 a month just on that one. But she told me about the prescription assiastance plan, I might have said it wrong but I have filled out my appliactions and mailed them in hoping I will qualify. I can't handle that much on one pill.
