My little sister is 22, and she is to scared to be alone in the same room as me! My epilepsy has messed up both of my shoulders, my neck, and my spine. It has stopped me from doing a lot of the things i use to love to do, and honestly that doesn't even bother me that much! Having a little sister that is scared to death of me over something that i can't control tears me up! I just wish I could do something about it! If anyone has any advice let me know!

Thanks,
Noah

Sorry, but it's one of the things we face daily.
If you get a warning, prewarn her and prepare for it.

I had a fit outside when cleaning one of our cars, It was a nice day and my then 4 year old daughter was helping me.
When I came round she stayed by me stroking my face saying it'll be alright daddy.

She is now 13 going on 23 and the last happened late at night on the second floor of our house and it scared the daylights out of her.
She awoke to me doing the hippy hippy shake, not good.

It's a nasty condition it's effects are enormous.

Hi and welcome Noah,

Sorry to hear of your epilepsy messing your shoulders, but most of all I'm sorry to hear of it scaring your 22 year old sister.

I have two now grown kids who have witnessed all sorts of seizures, so to have a 22 year old scared to death of you, she needs to be educated on the issue.
Have you been to an Epilepsy Foundation office that could give you some info? Or perhaps she and you could go to a counselor?

Hello noahn7,

Warm welcome to CWE.

Can I suggest she reads this :)? Maybe u can print it out for her.becasue I understand her fear...My Son is 27 and has E and it took me while to get over the fear, well, I care so much that i still have it and thats probably her biggest worry, she loves you and is scared for you..

I agree, have your sister read the posts on this site, or just google epilepsy and find out the facts. I am sure her tune would change if the shoe was on the other foot! (((HUGS)))
