We're back from the neurologist appointment. First, I have to say I really like the doctor. He was very nice and thorough with everything. He really listened to what I had to say and answered all of my questions. He ran a little late and was apologetic about it. It was emergency room related and you can tell he was tired.

I learned that my EEG actually wasn't normal but abnormal. Apparently, it was during the hyperventilation part. I explained my fainting episodes to him. I detailed the before, during and after as best I could. (I read from my notebook for the most part!) My husband was able to give his input from his side as a witness. The doctor stated that it looks and sounds like complex partial seizures.

I explained some of my experiences over the years with the "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome" and he said that this is something that I could have had all along.

I'm to have the Ambulatory EEG done and an MRI done. So, since I've been home I have been on the phone getting those scheduled. The MRI will be done this Friday morning. The Ambulatory is on hold until my insurance approves it.

That's all. Just wanted to share, I guess.

Thank you.

Sounds like your doctor is able to listen -- that's a good sign! Did you talk at all about treatment?

We are going to talk about treatment after the tests. He doesn't want to give me meds until he knows for sure what we are treating. Also, he doesn't want the meds to affect the tests.

He spoke a lot to driving and not putting myself or others in harms way.

Many doctors are in a rush to medicate, so I think your doc's relatively conservative approach in this case is another good sign. Keep us posted.

Hi StaceyCece!

Very happy that you appointment with your neurologist went very well. Hoping all appointments with him go equally well. Wishing the very best of luck with the tests. Hoping you get the Ambulatory EEG approved by your insurance company very soon and that the testing of it can be done soon too.

Please do let us know how the tests go and when you get the approval from your insurance company for the Ambulatory EEG, okay? And when you have your appointment with your neurologist regarding what AED he'll put you on as well, ok please?

Miss Choccy

Susan

I will for sure! :)

I had my MRI this morning. I was home sleeping when I got the call from the office saying it was normal. That's a relief, right? So, now I just wait to find out about the ambulatory. I had 2 more "episodes" in the last 3 days. This not driving is starting to get really frustrating but I'm making the most of it. : )
