So My doctor has put me on Keppra along with the rest of my medication.
Which is so great! I'm really happy to have been put on this medication and not depicote. I hope that it works!!!

I'm moving out over three -4 years because my epitologist said that I cant drive for three years and live on my own.
So my plan at the moment is to move out in a few months.
1. heal my foot.
2. finish my disability case (would take a few months )
3. focus on college, health, being social, (for the months that my disability case is in the works)

4. get a job( at this bank)
5. move out to one of my sisters houses.(pay rent for a year)
6. stay there for a year.
7. move out near the main campus with two roommates or three.(transfer from the bank to a bank near the main campus)
8. get a bike
9. stay there for two years (or until I'm able to drive)
10. move out by myself (if my seizures are under control and my medication has stabilized me to the point I can drive.)

I understand there could be some rode blocks some were, and that its going to be hard as heck.....
I'm planning on getting a service dog, but I still have not been able to get in touch with my local epilepsy foundation....
Is this a good Idea? this is the whole reason why I'm posting this Ive been planning this for along time : /
I mean I'm 20! Moving out to my sisters house for a year would be a test to see if i can hold a job, go to college, and still pay rent.
Do any of you guys think theres a flaw in my plan...........a step I should take..................things I should take first before i start my list?
:coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::sheep::sheep::?::?:

Tell me your moving out stories if it helps?

Sounds like a great plan! :)

I'm wondering why your neuro says you need to wait three years before driving. Usually the law is only 6 months to 1 year seizure-free. Is Florida different?

Maybe you should wait to get the service dog until you've been at your sister's house for a bit, and have a stable routine.

One other thing: Try not to be too rigid about the timeline. If you hit a few speedbumps don’t get discouraged.

I wont get discouraged, even though I know I most likely will.......Many of my sisters are telling me to just stay home, not get a job, and just stay in college until I graduate. I know that sounds like a good idea...But my dad is thinking about selling the house pretty soon. As well the house is giving me high anxiety, My nuero is telling me that I cant drive in three years- I'm not sure why- I do know its 6 months- I'm on 4 medications along with some others. I think he wants me to be completely off my medication before I live alone? I think he doesn't believe I'm capable of being on my own? He wants my medication to stabilize my seizures~

I think there's something to be said for learning how to be on your own, and testing out your wings. It may or may not go as you expect, but it sounds like you are ready to try. Your plan is thoughtful, not reckless, and hopefully some or all of your family will be supportive of it.

I hope you feel comfortable talking to your neuro about the three-year deadline, just to make sure you are on the same page about the goals and hopes for your treatment. Being medication-free (while it would be terrific) seems like an unusual goal for your neuro to focus on; a more likely one would be being seizure-free and stable.

I agree with Nakamova. You have a thoughtful well planned goal for your future.

I am glad to have you here at CWE. It was made out of love by Bernard for his wife Stacy. That love permeates throughout the whole forum.

I have always gotten the support I need and so will you.

One person here at CWE has a thread named "Other People's Negative Emotions and E. Pinkattitude is going to be a grandma any day. I thought you might want to talk to her.

Congratulations on the plan. I'm trapped at home and buried in debt at age 24...do whatever you can to not be me!

First thing to do is balance your costs and your income for every situation you can think of. How many hours will you work at the bank? Will you be able to get disability and a job (you can, I've seen it but there are restrictions)? How much can you get from the school without taking on loans (Pell Grant gives $5,500 a semester I believe)? Would you be able to get around at sister's place as well as home? Just cover all bases before making a move.

Second, don't let a seizure...or even a string of seizures...knock you off your three year plan. I can't assume, but your doctor may have given you the 3 year deadline because your seizures aren't quite controlled and he expects you to have more. Maybe that's just his goal and you can do better in the right situation.

Last thing I can say is don't get in your own way! In your quest to be social and live life just be careful to not do anything to complicate your situation. I lived on my own for two years by paying my bills with my student refund. Partied, hung out, had a blast...but after I graduated the money went "Poof!". I had to move back home, pay bills by myself, pay back student loans, and cut out bad habits that weren't good for my health while having uncontrolled seizures. (Alcohol, a lot of video games and television, all-nighters). It got to be very difficult and could have been avoided with some good discipline.

Your plan sounds solid, I hope to hear some good news in the future!

You have a good plan. You have thought it out carefully. You might have to make adjustments as things change. Be willing to change whenever you have to.

Please keep us updated as to how your plan goes.

Hey Athena,

I would say finish school first. School is already hectic enough without having to worry about other things, such as paying rent. School is expensive as it is now already. Maybe go to one of those specialist type schools. I hear Nurses are in high demand nowadays. Once you have some skills then the rest of the picture will come a lot easier.

My 2 cents

Cheers
