since yesterday I called their office to see if they can fax something over to my neurologist explaining her findings. All the test results came back negative for any infections. Blood work came back normal. She called today, the dr herself and said she was so suprised to hear that my neuro is doubting that the lamictal was the cause of the swollen glands and my face break out.

She said she will be giving their office a call and try to get hold of the nurse or him and explain her findings. She said she can send her papers she has from the appointment on friday to prove to him the results all came back normal and i have no infections.

Its been 4 days since Ive last taken the lamictal, and I have no more swollen glands! And the break out on my face, mostly my chin, jaw area and my by nose, they are almost all gone! Just in 4 days it went from being really bad to now hardly there!

I cant believe how much a medication can affect a person!

It's good to have your pcp on your side, isn't it?

Yes it is! I was very suprised to hear from her today. Yesterday when I called her office, I gave them my neuro's fax number, explained the visit, and how he doesnt think the swollen glands I had, had anything to do with the Lamictal. The receptionist said she would give the information over to her and if she had any questions, she would call.

When the dr herself actually called me, she sounded so suprised to hear my drs reaction to my visit with her on friday. She said she just cant believe how a neuro dr wouldnt know the side effects of medications they prescribe their patients. She did say that most drs think a rash has to be on a patients body in order for them to be allergic, but she's seen many patients that walk into her office that have other severe side effects besides a rash, and are allergic to medications. In my case, I just was one of that small percentage that got the swollen glands as a severe side effect of the medication.

Apart of me is eager to see what comes about after she contacts my neuro's office. I see him in a couple of weeks, but I dont think he will do anything like contact me or say anything to me before the appointment. Heck Im suprised he hasnt had his nurse call me to see how Im doing only being on the 2500mgs of Keppra.

When I go for my appointment on the 25th, Im going to bring up why he still wants me on the Keppra if he feels I dont have epilepsy? Why be on a antiseizure medication if he feels I dont need it?

Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall when your neuro gets the call from your pcp?:pop: I bet he'll make up all sorts of excuses for his idiocy, and will probably never admit to her or to you that he was wrong, but it's so wonderful that your pcp is taking action on your behalf!

I'm sooo glad you're recovering from the Lamactil and doing better:) Hope you can find a new neuro and/or medication, and get good control with no side-effects!

Best Wishes:)

Oh yes! Just as I hung up from my primary care dr yesterday, I thought Oh I would love to be there to see what he tells her! IMO, I think since his partner who was "above" him, since he left and went to another hospital, I think he now thinks he is "Better".... If you know what i mean. Like he stepped into his shoes and is trying to act all good like his partner did. When I spoke to him on friday, he seemed like a totally different dr than when I last saw him in March.

Im hoping and praying something good comes out of all of this.
So far, Im on day 5 with only Keppra.... last time I was on day a5, i had seizure activity. Im just praying things go well between now and when I see the dr next.
