My sister and I are only 18 months apart. She is older and has had E since she was 7. She had 2 concussions close together and "they" think that's what caused it.
We are 35 and 36 now, much time has passed. She has been living on her own in MI and is not doing well. Not being able to drive or hold down a job has left her isolated and depressed to the point of wanting to hurt herself. My husband and I asked her to come live with us and our 3 kids in NH and she agreed!
She will get here in a week and I'm excited, scared, happy, freaking out! She has 3 types of seizures. She has the vegas nerve implant, is on lots of meds, sees a neurologist once a month AND still has seizures almost daily should go to
We are in a rural part of NH and I want to be sure to get her a good neurologist, anyone know any great ones in NH or MA?
I guess I'm just looking for support and encouragement. It's a tough thing to live with even for those of us who don't directly suffer from it.
Thanks for listening.

You are an angel in my eyes. Being a caregiver myself, I know the challenges that this entails. I live in CA, so I can't help you with Dr. suggestions. Insurance is going to be an issue, as to who she can see, and who she can't.

I hope that being in your care, will enable her to finally get some relief from her daily seizures.

Welcome to CWE - I hope this is a place you can find the support that you seek.

Hi younger sister, welcome to CWE!

If you are anywhere near Dartmouth, I recommend you consider the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for your sister's care.

Please feel free to ask any other questions as they arise. And if your sister is interested, CWE may be a great forum for her to join as well.

Best,
Nakamova

Lebanon is 2 hours from where I live. It looks like Dartmouth Hichcock has other facilities in Concord, which is only and hour. Wonder if I can find her a good neurologist there?
