After reading 'Magic Forests' thread the other day about epilepsy and creativity, I thought I would analyse my last sketch. I sit and draw 'not very good', quick sketches during my lunchtime at work (when I manage to get a break) it helps me to de-stress after a hard morning in the office.

Anyway getting to the point, as all the regulars on CWE know, I desparately want to ride a motorcycle, so this picture was very interesting. I set about sketching a bike, but when I actually paid attention to what I had drawn it was obvious that there was some deep psychosis involved. I sketched a Harley, fair enough, no problem with that, but then I carried on and wrapped the bike in barbed/razor wire, (I can remember thinking that it would look kinda cool), but who on earth draws barbed wire around a motorcycle????Which to me means that from my point of view that it is something out of my reach, a dream that is dangerous to touch, something that I am not allowed, so close and yet so far (sigh)

My picture is called "Barbed Wire Bike" I have added it below as an attachment for anybody that might be interested. Has anybody else ever paid attention to your own creativity and found a deeper meaning?

Wow!!!

It's really GOOD, CM!!!

Perhaps you ought to consider being an artiste'? Oooolala!!!:clap:

I like it very much! I could NEVER do something that wonderful!

I can see where your thought process is leading to though.......hmmmmm. 'Tis a good point.

Since I'm not that talented in that area, I don't feel qualified to answer....

WOW!! What great work. Any way we can see more?

Great drawing - I couldn't begin to do that.

But, I think you may be right about the underlying message. I want to try to create something this winter that expresses my feelings about E. I have no idea what form it will take. I know it will not be artistic, but I want it to be an expression of my view of E.

What an awesome drawing. My drawing talents are limited to stick people.

Thanks guys for all the great compliments.

Buckeye it would be cool to see what direction your thoughts and feelings about E leads, keep us posted when you start your project. I think my bike picture has my biggest desire and E summed up for me.

Nancy - Yes, you can see more of my sketches if you wish, I keep them all at work (strange I know) coz they are drawn at work, I never bother bringing them home. I will take my camera with me tomorrow and take some photos of them.

Meetz - Consider being an artiste?? well a tattoo artist would be cool (as I normally have to copy a pic or photo), my watercolours/oils are dreadul, I think that is more Robins expertise.

Hey CM,

That's actually really impressive. I was only any good at pencil drawings back at school, and would manage to kill a picture as soon as the Teacher told us to paint 'em!

I'm just looking at the picture with a Psychological mind, and trying to figure out what the barbed wire on the bike represents ?.....any thoughts you wanna share ? :ponder:

Quite nice CM - You have found one of the reasons it is so awesome to be an artist. I have been told that a person's soul comes through in their work. It is a vision of your universe. Keep exploring.

I don't think that a motorcycle is out of your reach.

Hey Teetees

I have been trying do a psychological evaluation of my picture and I find it very strange that I thought barbed wire around the item I most desire seemed like a good idea, especially as currently this item is a no go area. I think that it has really expressed how I feel about getting a bike "I can look, but not touch"

p.s. I can also kill a picture as soon as a paintbrush is involved, thats why I just stick to quick pencil sketches, but this one seems to have an underlying meaning.

Robin - I hope you're right, one day, sigh sigh sigh.

Hmmm....possibly :ponder: .....but aren't objects such as bikes/cars extended visions of ourselves ?

That would mean that you could be feeling trapped by the 'barbed wire' which is a representation of something else in your life, or even 'not getting off the starting block' so to speak. However, if you look a little closer, I notice that the post closest to us has been demolished, and the bike is breaking through. Does this mean that you HAVE been feeling trapped inside yourself, but can see a means of escapism.....therefore, knowing that there IS a chance to get OFF the path which you are on, and breaking FREE.

....or maybe I'm just talking a load of rubbish and need feeding right now :roflmao:

Yes, I looked at the fallen post and thought maybe that was a sign that a bike isn't out of my reach afterall and that it is actually finding a way to me.

OR is it that I have not given up on getting one so I have left a way to get to it eventually

That is just awesom CM!

As soon as I saw it I thought of this video

barbwire=epilepsy
(please ignore the homoerotica, not directed at you but I do love Queen!)

Warning to those photosensitive, some flashing lights

or a safer version----just the lyrics!

You're right Birdbomb, Epilepsy is like barbed wire, it has you wrapped up in its razor sharp teeth and it is up to us to find a way to break free!!!!!!!

GOOD POINT

It was TT's take on it that got me to thinking. E is like barbwire. Always poking at you, binding you, keeping you from the things you really want. It can be very painul if not handled properly.....

I think the bike would look great as a Tatoo too! Imagine the conversations and dialog about E it would induce.
