If you taking e Meds as I am then you expect eeg be normal so why is it not when you taking correct dose it don't make sense

Epilepsy medications can control the symptoms of epilepsy (i.e. the seizures), but they don't cure the underlying condition that are causing the issue. So even on medication, EEGs can still be abnormal. It really depends on the type of epilepsy you have and how you respond to your medication.

In particular, for many people with focal epilepsy the meds control the spread of the seizures, but don't stop the initial seizure activity. For instance, without medication my daughter has simple partial seizures that quickly become complex partial and then invariably generalize into tonic-clonics. Her medication keeps her focal seizures from spreading, so she no longer has CPs or tonic-clonics, but it does not completely control that initial seizure activity so she continues to have simple partials. So her EEG shows epileptiform activity (i.e. spikes and waves). And even if you are not experiencing any seizures, there can still be sub-clinical activity.

Hope this helps

True. And it can also be the other way around. You can have years of "normal" EEGs while still having seizures. The EEG is a less than perfect diagnostic tool.

Your Meds have nothing to do with your EEG being Normal or Abnormal , someone without Epilepsy can have an abnormal EEG . Just be very calm and relaxed when you take your EEG's . I only had to take meds one time because they wanted me to be asleep but other than that I would just lay quiet until finished . If your Meds have your seizures controlled you have it , if not look into something else . Watch your triggers too , light can trigger them . Read about your meds too , Google them .
