Ihad my last appt. with neuro before i switch to a epileptologists didn't mention it to him i went in with a gameplan cause my wife who witnesses a lot of seizures couldn't make it.so my mum took me a 100 miles to see this guy and everything i said he shot down i wanted to go down on my meds he said no.i wanted to go a lot further then a .25 on my vns b/c it hurts but they didn't care they wanted to add a drug that costs 400 bucks and medicare don't cover i guess it's new to u.s. i don't care i want off some drugs he doesn't understand when people tell him limited income and all the seizures i have been havin we were suppose to get more in depth about that na.DBS he wanted no part of it i basically have to live with it til im gone.all the non-return phone calls he said been busy.sorry for so long was hoping for better results guess what should i expect its them and barely mentioned by video eeg i had a couple months back or the neuro optometrist i saw who recommended tapering off some meds.he wants me to see a psychitrist

Ahhhh man! What a disappointment! How frustrating! Shot down. I wish Dr.s would talk to each other...it would make things a lot easier.
I can't blame you for wanting to taper off the meds.

especially when i had 2 of them in there and 1 runs the whole barrow neurological and he use to be my dr. past me along like nothin to some guy straight out of residency and they wonder why my seizures have gotten worse over time im starting to think it's them and not my head.lol

Geez..I really hate when they say they are too busy to return phone calls. It just always seems so uncaring to me. Maybe the epileptologist will really listen to you.
Holding a good thought for you.

A psychiatrist !#*@*!! Don't you just love that b.s., like what the hell do I need a psychiatrist for I'm not crazy!
My (ex) neurologist said the same thing yeah well buddy you ain't my doctor no more!
I wish you all the best with the epileptologist, I can definately say meeting mine was one of the best things that could have happened, she takes me seriously and doesn't screw around, lets me help make decisions about med changes, dosage changes, and NEVER insinuates in any way that I am making any of it up or need psychiatry. Believes what I say and does her job accordingly. Specialists are the best.

I know I cant wait I understand u got me on anti-depressants u think I need too see one recommend of christ sakes just to show em hes wrong.but ob to a real dr in june or july I thinl

Epileptologists are the best- they (well mine anyway lol!) love their patients because they have a genuine connection; epilepsy is their favourite!

Before I found my (wonderful) epileptologist, I switched neurologists (yours sounds exactly like my ex neuro- never listened to anyone let alone me (roommates would come to describe seizures and talk about my triggers and she would pretty much ignore them), and she NEVER returned phone calls...EVER.) Don't go to a doctor you hate- you're paying so go see somebody new! Haha :) Find someone you really like...it will make all the difference : )

Do tell us about the epileptologist : )
