Hi guys....it has been a little while since I posted, however, I have been around reading when I can.
Most of you know that I have Multiple Sclerosis as well as simple and complex partials.
I had allergic reactions to four of the AEDs....but ended up doing okay on Neurontin. And my neuro thought it would also help with my nerve pain from the MS.
Well, I am being treated now with a very powerful drug called Tysabri for my MS, but it has given me anxiety as a side effect (I have never had anxiety). Well, my neuro gave me Klonopin to help with the anxiety .5mg three times a day.
Does anyone have any input on this combo? My seizures have been slightly reduced on the Neurontin but still there....will the Konopin help my seizures too? I was only given Klonopin for 15 days. Will I have withdrawals after that short of time?
Thanks guys :)

Hi daisy.girl --

There are no known interactions between Neurontin and Klonopin, so you should be fine in that respect. Klonopin has been prescribed as an add-on for epilepsy treatment. It seems to work best with absence seizures and some kinds of myoclonic and reflex epilepsies, but is less effective with partial seizures.

There can be withdrawal symptoms from stopping Klonopin abruptly, but they are most likely if you've been on it for awhile at a high dose. But you should definitely check with your doc now to see how you are supposed to proceed after your 15-day supply runs out, just to be on the safe side.

I hope you feel better with the combo of meds.

I noticed you were diagnosed with MS? You might want to look into chronic Lyme Disease...seriously...

http://www.lymeinfo.net/multiplesclerosis.html

Join Lymenet for more info because it is not easily diagnosed, is not easily cured, and is not only found in the Northeastern U.S. And the bull's eye rash is not always present. Also, Lyme can cause seizures.

I test positive for Lyme, bartonella, and babesia, and I spent years on Klonopin and Neurontin (for anxiety and 'fibromyalgia'...which turned out to be underlying Lyme and complex partial seizures).

Okay...I have been reading other posts on anxiety and trying to explain seizures to the neuro. Well, as I was reading. I had this thought that maybe the 'anxiety' that I thought I was having from the medication 'Tysabri' was actually a seizure.

It was/is this feeling of internal shaking/tremor, a feeling of something wrong/doom. I also feel like my heart is racing (although it is not) and I feel nausea.

What do you think?
