Hi there I'm a 44 year old guy with temporal lobe epilepsy. Had it since I was 23. Get complex partial seizures - deja vu auras and seizures (resulting in blackouts). I get about 8-10 a month. Using meds to control it slightly but it doesn't take it away completely.

Was offered surgery but highest of surgeons gave me some discouragement because they could not make full guarantee for me - it was a sophisticated operation that could lead to a possibility of blindness.

So I rather decided to carry on with meds.

I'm married for eight years so far. My wife has mental illness but supports me the best she can. She drives me where I need to go and catches me when I have a seizure. Because we both have illnesses we understand each other a bit better, where some others of my family don't even understand or even give me support.

Hi Badr,

Welcome to the forum! Just like you I have temporal lobe epilepsy also I have both absence and complex partial seizures. I sometimes get
as many seizures as you a month but I found that after I started using the medical marijuana (CBD oil) my seizures were reduced to the
lowest in my life. I've had seizures for 48 yrs. they started when I was 10 yrs. old.

I had surgery to reduce my seizures my Dr. told me I had a chance of going blind or being paralyzed but I knew that the more seizures
I had the more brain damage so I took the chance and now my seizures have reduced between 50-60%. You may want to try taking
vitamin B12 once a day that also has helped me because it calms the nerves.

Be sure to keep track of your seizures get a calendar and write down each time you have a seizure and make sure you put down
what time it happened by doing this sometimes a Dr. can see a pattern in a persons seizures as to what time of day/night the seizure
will happen and what days of the month.

I think it's great to hear from someone in Africa my Uncle used to work over their helping the needy people and animals. He was
in Kenya and other areas. I sure wish we had the warm weather here in the U.S. like you do in Africa we are getting ready for winter
here and I really don't care for the cold winter weather and snow. I wish you and your wife only the best of luck and May God Bless
the both of You!

Hi Sue,

You are sounding quite similar to what I am going through as I am also keeping a seizure diary which I was informed to do by a specialist Japanese doctor at the famous Groote Schuur hospital (if you heard of it - where they did the first heart transplant in world). I used to attend the hospital for neurologist appointments to get advices and meds.

I could take Vit B12 which is a nice advice from you but what do you mean by the CBD oil? What does it stand for?

Hi Badr,

If you take vitamin B12take 1000 mcg. once a day. I take it in the morning with my breakfast.

CBD is cannabidiol is comes from the marijuana plant but it doesn't make you high. It has been proven to help
reduce and in some cases stop seizures, it's helps people with cancer and if a person is in a lot of pain like back pain
or bad headaches it will help there also. It has also helped people with anxiety or if a person can't sleep it will help
the person sleep with no problem. I buy it online check out health hemp oil.com and look at the mouth spray that's what
I have been using for at least 4 yrs. and I just squirt it in my mouth twice a day and that is all I have to do along with taking
my seizure med and my seizures have been reduced to the lowest in my life.

Another thing you can try as crazy as it may seem is take 2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar that has mother in it. This can
sometimes help people by reducing their seizures or in some cases stopping the seizures. I was using the vineger to lose weight
and I noticed my seizures decrease and I found out that the mother in the vinegar was a good protein and good bacteria and
this is what has helped reduce my seizures.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You,

Sue

Hi Badr, welcome to CWE! Make yourself at home. :)

Hello & welcome to CWE. I get both simple and complex partial seizures. I have had simple partials since childhood--the complex partials began just over 20 years ago. I've tried nearly every medication out there, but I still get 1-3 breakthroughs per month.
