Hey everyone, My name is Theresa and I am 24 years old. I started having seizures years ago, but no one really knew what they were, or what was going on. My first one I actually remember and know was a seizure was in 2006 on a Disney Cruise line.... The onboard Doctor thought it was my ear ache and the rocking of the boat, so they gave me doses of benadryl which in return gave me even more seizures. The next month, I had another one that happened while sitting at the kitchen table playing with my new photo printer. I was out cold for 10 or more mins my Mother explained. I woke up confused and very upset. The hospital check my sugar, check for pregnancy and drugs.... sent me home. I had a very bad headache!! Two days later, I had another one seconds away from stepping into my car.... this time my Mom put her foot down, and made the family doctor give us a referral to a speicalist. I was placed on Topomax for two years, lost my licences and many testing. They said I had Complex Partial Seizures and to stay away from certain drugs like cold meds. and i must sleep and eat correctly. They medication gave me hair lose, kidney stones and different taste buds, meaning a lot of stuff didn't taste good to me anymore. After two years on the meds, they took me off and I was seizure free from 2007 till recently...... I had two back to back seizures and they placed me on trileptal, 600 MG a day... I'm really tired and slight tightness in my neck.

BEfore each seizure I was have deja vu, everything gets bright and I can only see my surroundings I can't hear or talk sometimes... then I black out.

I'm getting my EEG and MRI Sept. 5th, hoping to know what the heck is going on.

Thank you!

Just like to welcome you to CWE, You are very young yet, so take things slowly, find out more about epilepsy first, start a diary/copybook to keep a record of everything that happens, as best you can remember and then add in what your mother or if someone was there seen, keep a note of anything that feels funny to you.The EEG and MRI are good, but that does not mean you will be any wiser, you always need to cheek the side effects of any drugs you are put on and keep a note of when you started and anything you feel is affecting/happening to you. This way when you go to see your doctor you have a record you can show, which will help.

Thank you for the warm welcome! Such great advice. I am hoping writing and reading on here will help me! Not everyone knows how I am feeling and it frustrates me to no end!

Frustrate you, I can imagin. I will not tell you that feeling is going to go away for good, there are times when we all still get frustrated, even for me and I am older than you. Reading the stories of everybody here will show you how we all feel and the differant ways we cope. Always ask a quistion here, never be afraid, everybody will try and help, if I cannot answer the quistion, there will always be somebody here who can. The people here are friendly, funny and will help you if they can.

Glad to hear it, remember you are never alone here.
