I'm new to the site. I've been fortunate enough to only have a mild case of Epilepsy (controlled by meds). I'm prescribed Tegretol three times a day. I take generic, but some say it's not possible. I do. I think that's because Tegretol is also an anti-depressant. That little fact about Tegretol causes other problems.

I've been very fortunate, but I know others who have not. Looking forward to sharing ideas and hearing others.

how do you do. It's very nice to meet you! You have found a wonderful place to hang out and make friends, here at CWE. Quite the wonderful place to be. Mr B, our host, has made us an AWESOME home here.

So kick off your shoes, and stay a while. There's plenty of nooks and crannies to check out, as well as friends to make. And, I'm sure Buckeye will be around soon with some of his yummy coffee! :)

To each their own as to what works for them........don't worry about what others think. For me, personally, generics do not work. I wish they did, it would be infinitely cheaper for me if that were the case!

Always good to see someone else on Tegretol. I never knew it was an antidepressant though...... My g-d I'd hate to think how I'd feel if it wasn't one. :roflmao:

Also nice to have someone who likes to share ideas.

I could be wrong, but I keep thinking that taking Tegretol when you're not depressed can cause problems. At the same time, you can't get off because you're used to it (generic you). I think there might be some differing opinions on that though.

Welcome to the forum....I'm a newbie as well just finding the site a week or so ago. I'm also on Tegretol and have been for years due to grand mal seizures as well. Tegretol has controlled my seizures wonderfully (unless I take antibiotics---watch out for that). I look forward to hearing more about you.

welcome to the forum.I take Tegretol,Topamax,Clonazapam
Your fortunate to have a mild case od epilepsy and be controlled,I wish I could say the same had it since I was 2.
Tegretol along with all other epilepsy meds is a CNS depressant.
Tegretol is used for Bi-polar and I believe one or 2 other things.
