Hi All

By means of a quick update. I've been on Keppra for nearly 4 weeks now (on the target dose of 500mg per day - quite low I believe). Luckily in the last week my partial seizures have mostly stopped (from 2-3 per day for last few months) - so feeling a lot better.

Not had any side effects of Keppra which is good.

Had a 2nd MRI, with contrast this time, to try and identify what the cause of the TLE is. The neurologist said that the scan didn't enhance things but they believe it is either focal cortial dysplacia or a low-grade glioma (should I be worried!!?) although they're not able to confirm it from the scans done / at this stage. Next step is a repeat MRI in a years time to see if there is any change.

In the meantime I very much aim to live my life as normal, as I have been for last week!

Good luck to you Stu8866. If the first couple of meds tried fail to control the seizures chances are nothing will. That is a sad truth about epilepsy. Seems no one really gives a shit about us as far as research is concerned.

Yes I did hear that, which is why I'm so glad the Keppra seems to be working.

Keppra is a good medicine. I've had sleepiness and some mood problems, but nothing major. Keep an eye on that mood, though. I didn't realize my anger could have been relative until I read it here.

Good luck.

just a quick question for anyone, not been on forum for a while. would just like to say to Stu i suffered exactly same symptoms which took 3yrs to diagnose! I too take keppra and symptoms stopped almost immediately after trying lamotrogine with no success. I have just picked up my prescription from a different chemist and they have given me the mylan brand of levetiracetam does anyone know if there is any difference?
