Hello, my name is Jeff and I was in a near death accident 17 years ago. I was riding a motorcycle and a drunk driver hit me head on. I was in a coma for 2 months and not expected to live through the night. I thank God every day for saving my life. I have clonic-tonic seizures 1-3 times per year. I take trileptal and vimpat twice daily.

Sincerely, Jeff

Welcome, Jeff! Goodness gracious, I'd say that is certainly a miracle--what an experience! I am sincerely glad you came out the other side okay. So are the seizures caused by injuries sustained in the accident?

I am on Trileptal and Vimpat also, as well as Dilantin and Lamictal. My doctor is working on taking me off the Trileptal and Dilantin and having me be just on Vimpat and Lamictal.

I have never had a grand mal seizure, I hope I never do--my seizures are simple and complex partial seizures, and rarely drop attack seizures.

Hi Jeff, welcome to CWE!

You certainly are a miracle guy. And tonic-clonics are no fun, that's for sure. Any clue as to whether there are any specific triggers that make them show up? Any plans to tweak your meds to prevent the seizures?

Best,
Nakamova

Hi and welcome to CWE.

You truly were in Gods care that day.

Hoping you find the right meds. to. get your seizures under control.

Hello Jemsister, I'm so sorry for taking so long to respond to your message. I'm still trying to figure out this website. Thank you for your kind words, I greatly appreciate it. Yes, my seizures are a result from my accident. I hope you never have a grand mal seizure, they are no fun. Most of mine have been at night when I was sleeping, even scarier when I wake up with a bump on my head or a cut in my ear.
If you don't mind me asking, were you born with epilepsy or was it a result from something else?

Thanks again for your kind words, Jeff

Hello Nakamova, thank you for your kind words. Me and my neurologist are trying to figure out any triggers. It looks like my last seizure episode was because I took my meds 4 hrs late. So far I'm doing well, no seizures for 1 month. Do you have tonic-clonis seizures? They are def. not fun. Thanks again and please stay in touch.

Sincerely, Jeff

Just like to say welcome, pull up a chair and warm yourself. Everybody here has some kind of seizure and they are all equally as bad. A name just means a category. So its the person that counts.

Hi jeff -- yes, I have tonic-clonics too. First one happened when I was 35, and I've had about 20 in all. But I've been seizure-free the last 4 years on Lamictal, knock-on-wood...
