Hello
My name is Ace. I'm 25, married, and a father to a one year old. I had my first seizure almost two years ago to the day. As you all know, dealing with the world of epilepsy has been extremely difficult and for the moment it seems those difficulties seem to be getting worse. Our family recently moved to Oklahoma from Arkansas and finding a new neurologist has been a struggle to say the least. My previous doctor was awesome. But the challenge of finding a new doctor who actually gives a dang seems to be much more challenging than I thought. Lately I have been experiencing extreme exhaustion. I've always been very involved in athletics and having the energy to do so has never been a challenge. But lately the thought of lifting a weight or playing ball fells like the equivalent of climbing Everest.
Anyways, i just wanted to introduce myself and give a brief overview of my seizures. I am so happy to have stumbled across this forum. I look forward to conversing with you all.

Hi Ace and welcome to CWE. I checked your profile. What a handsome little boy you have.
I am wondering if maybe the stress of the recent move could be causing some exhaustion or possibly something totally unrelated to your seizures and/or medication. Maybe the fatigue could be addressed with our new PCP.

Many of us feel your anguish when it comes to finding a neurologist.. seems especially hard when you are trying to replace a really great one as you are trying to do. I know there are others on the page who can certainly address this with you.

Glad you have found us. My best to you.

Hi Ace, welcome to CWE!

I wish you the best of luck in speedily finding a new neurologist. The right doc can be a crucial part of dealing with epilepsy. In your case, it sounds like your meds and/or your sleep habits could use a closer look to see if they are contributing to your exhaustion. A blood test may show if your med levels are too high, or of something else is going on (like anemia) that might be contributing to your fatigue. And if your seizures are uncontrolled they may be messing with the quality of your sleep as well.

Hope you get some answers and a good neurologist soon.

Best,
Nakamova
