Hi all,
My name is Jon and I am new to the forum scene.
A little about me then....
In December 2008, I was in a car accident in Northern Virginia near where I was stationed whilst in the USMC. The accident was minor, but I was told to go get checked out by my squad leader at the nearest hospital - thankfully so.
I went to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA where they did a routine post - MVC work-up and on a standard head CT, a small, grape sized mass was found in my left temporal lobe.
I followed up with an MRI and the mass was identified as a cavernous hemangioma and the four opinions I got varied from advising to get it taken out to leave it be.
I ended up getting it resected, and as a result, have had the battle with complex partial seizures for almost five years now, and up until a few days ago, I had gone almost two years without one. My neurologist just made a new adjustment to 2000 mg Keppra BID and 100 mg Vimpat BID. Not sure how I am liking the Vimpat yet, but I hate taking the medication period. I feel like it "dumbs me down" as I work in EMS and am a full time pre-medicine student.
I guess I am coming here to get to know those with similar frustrations. Sometimes, this disease process makes me feel like a total failure and makes me regret the decision I made to get a surgery that I thought would help.
Thanks for listening.
