3 years ago I had a seizure out of nowhere & I have had one each year since. 3 in total and I'm a jumble of emotions trying to cope and not knowing why they started or what my triggers are. I quit smoking after the first one and I don't drink or do drugs... Just at a lost. Diagnosed with simple partial focal seizures they started me on keppra. I functioned but never quite felt like myself. Then last year I got pregnant and was weaned off by my eighth week of pregnancy. After the baby I didn't go back on the medication (I had no seizures during my pregnancy), but a little over a week ago I had another. So back on the keppra 1000mg a day. I've been ok but last night I felt really jittery and felt like maybe I was going to have another episode I figured out I was probably experiencing an anxiety attack... Did some breathing and just got quiet and finally went to sleep. This is all so confusing. Thanks for listening :0)

Hi Aleigh, welcome to CWE!

If you don't "feel like yourself" on Keppra, there are many other meds to try -- you might want to ask your neurologist about them. Some folks experience anxiety with Keppra, so it could be responsible for your anxiety and jittery feelings.

It can be tough not knowing what's going on and why -- and which only a few seizures to go by, it makes it harder to find a pattern. Sometimes it's a combination of little factors that all come together -- something like stress + hormones + low magnesium, or fatigue + low blood sugar + too many diet sodas... Anyway, I hope you feel better soon. Some of the side effects of Keppra can be mitigated with a B6 supplement, so you might want to give that a shot.

Best,
Nakamova

Thanks Nakamova! Since its only been a little over a week since I've been back on the keppra & I've never experienced those feelings before, I'll definitely try the b6 supplement. From my research I know that there are people who experience far worse than what I have, but it's still extremely scary and I tend to feel alone no matter how many people are supporting me

There's lots of support here at CWE -- feel free to take advantage of it!
