hello,

I don't have a diagnosis yet as I am waiting on hearing back from Neurologist but I've had a couple of EEGs, one being a Sleep/fasting EEG and have had sleep studies to check if I had Narcolepsy. My EEG says under Classification: Dysrhythmia grade II, focal, right Occipital region (awake and drowsy) does this mean anything?

I can post what my symptoms are as well...they started when I was a kid...to seeing the air filled with dots to hallucinations etc to blacking out episodes which happened just recently to confusion and speech slowing or perceived slowing.
Please help if you have any thoughts on this! Thank you

Joanne

Hi Joanne, Welcome to CWE!

I moved your post to The Foyer so more folks could see it and respond.

Your neuro is the best one to provide an interpretation and explanation of your EEG results, but in general terms:

There are three grades of dysrhythmia on an EEG -- grade 2 is right in the middle. Any of the "grades" can be indicative of a seizure disorder, including grade 1. In addition, dysrhythmias can be caused not only by epilepsy, but also by things like anxiety and other psychological states. As with all EEGs, the possibility for false positives and false negatives prevent the test from being definitive, but your neuro will use the information it provides along with your clinical symptoms to make a diagnosis.

thank you
