I am new to all this..i ended up in emerg 3 nights in a row til they finally figured out i had a stroke, they kept saying i had a migraine...ummm yeah that's what it was...shakes head. They now think a seizure caused the stroke.
August this year, i went "out of it" again but this time when i came to i was standing in a puddle of urine, I don't know how long i was "out"...we ended up in emerg again and they sent me home with an aspirin and thought i was having another stroke (TIA)...when my family doc got the hospital reports he's the one that said lets test you for seizures.
I went for the EEG and it showed abnormalities, my doctor called me in September and told me not to drive and was setting up an appt with a neurologist, i was in to see him the following month...i had the Ambulatory EEG this week, now i have to wait..i am not on meds yet...they did this to find out how often i am having seizures, i don't even know when i have had one, they think i am having small ones since i can only recall the 2 big ones i had ... i don't have any warning when it's coming on but i am exhausted a few times a week that is what makes them think I'm having smaller ones that i am unaware of.
i was diagnosed with Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) about 5 yrs ago, nothing was ever said about that, til now that is...i got my letter from the DMV saying that my license is now suspended due to having epilepsy and RLS..i don't understand why now they mention RLS, whats that got to do with driving,.. i only get the RLS when i try to go to sleep, I don't sleep when I'm driving!..so i have been warning all my friends that if they suffer RLS don't tell the doc it is apparently grounds to suspend your license...lol
i will have to jump thru hoops now to get my license back, according to the DMV when i called them.. they (docs) have 2 yrs to regulate me or i will have to start all over as a new driver, that pisses me off...i can understand them taking my license but why would i have to start as a new driver when i have been driving for over 20 yrs...I'm angry cause that means i will lose my low insurance rates, i don't want to have to pay 4 grand a year again. i don't know when i am having a seizure so how will anyone else? how can they tell when i have gone the "12 mons"? it's just frustrating.
ohh well, maybe once i learn more about dealing/living with epilepsy i will understand why they do what they do.
