Hello all,

I'm a twenty-five-year old female, who has been dealing with epilepsy since I was nine! This is my first time reaching out to the E community, but I have frequented the boards in the past to not "feel so alone."

I have grand mal seizures and partial seizures. In a few weeks, I'll be going into the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and going off meds for a week to see if the docs can find my seizure focus, to see if I'm a candidate for the brain surgery!

I'm excited to make lot of friends on here and learn more!

Hi amor87, welcome to CWE!

I hope you feel free to explore the different forumd here. Some CWE members have had surgery, or are considering it, so you should be able to "pick their brains" for any advice...

Best,

welcome amor, great decision to come here!
i was in the unit for 17 days back in october, and came out having to make the dreaded surgery decision. i had a few partials and 4 grand mals in there - they got more than what they needed to see what was what.
msg me anytime if you need to talk :)

Hi amor,

Welcome to CWE, good luck with your stay at the epilepsy monitoring unit.

I had left temporal lobe surgery on 10th March 2011 so it is pretty close to 2 years since my surgery :). For me the surgery has been a success so far as I haven't had a seizure since the surgery. I am due to go back to the epilepsy clinic at the end of March for my 2 year post surgery follow up appt with the neurologist & neuropsycholgist.
You may be interested in a thread I have in the laboratory section of the forum which I have used over the last 2 years to update on my recovery http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f41/almost-time-11741/

Welcome! It is always fun when a new face joins in. I wish you the best with your hospital stay. don't get discouraged if it takes a couple of days before anything happens. it took 4 days for me.
