Hi all!
Thanks for having me. I was diagnosed with epilepsy back in 2004. I was 22 and living in a big city with access to my choice of medical professionals.
I was in a car accident in 2003 when I was travelling overseas. afterwards I started seeing things, hearing things and losing pockets of time. trying to explain that doctors I was immediately diagnosed as psychotic. Although I could quite rationally tell them I knew that what I was seeing and hearing wasn't real and why weren't they (the doctors) looking for something wrong with my brain... months later an EEG revealed I have incredibly funky brainwaves.
I have since moved to Darwin in Northern Australia. The access to anything medical, let alone a specialist, is incredibly limited. trying to explain my epilepsy to not just medical staff but my work colleagues, my friends and even my family here is SO frustrating! Which lead me to seek out like minded people (pardon the pun)
So that's all about my brain.... I work with children with Special Educational Needs. I have a cat that I call my furbaby, Kronk. I am keen on all types of music and I collect free postcards.
:D

Hi missamacca, welcome to CWE!

We have a number of members from Down Under, so you're in excellent company. When the CWE World Tour gets organized (wishful thinking), Australia will be on the list of countries to visit.

Are you on medication at the moment? Are your seizures controlled?

Best,
Nakamova

Welcome to CWE.

It's hard trying to explain what we are going through, even there.

I have learned so much on this forum that has helped me.
I hope this will be the same for you.

I was diagnosed when I was 18, I now 61.

I didn't know anything about triggers and this is important.
Are you keeping a diary? listing everything from seizures, sleep pattern, sickness, ANY added meds. or vitamins.

I hope you will feel free to ask any questions.

Helloooooooo, come in, take this frustration out here we dont mind :)
