Hi all,
I am so glad to find a forum like this. I have been experiencing Simple and Complex Partial seizures for around seven years. I first thought I was having anxiety attacks, then realized I was having them in my sleep with facial movements. My first (and only) tonic clonic occurred 18 days ago, after weaning myself from a year on an uneffective dose of lamotrigine, under a naturopath's direction. I am now on Keppra, and experiencing major emotional turmoil...the nastiness is really spilling over into the rest of my life.
Anyway, I am hoping to get some support from others who have been here and maybe some occasional advice on how to keep myself sane and relatively happy while raising my two kids and maintaining my marraige and job. It all seems to be too much right now.
Thanks!

Hello and welcome!
I've heard on here that some people on here have alleviated some of Keppras side effects by adding a B vitamin supplement each day. Keppra is known to reduce levels of B vitamins in the body, which could easily be a contributing factor to your problems with it. :)

Hi Trinidee, welcome to CWE!

I hope you didn't wean too quickly off of the Lamotrigine -- if you did, that may have precipitated the tonic-clonic. Keppra is known to have emotional side effects, so if they don't lessen or get worse, talk to your doc about trying something else. You might also be interested in trying dietary approaches or neurofeedback. More info to get you started here: http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/index.php?p=alternative-treatments
