I know I have had them before. Well im almost certain. Waking up running to the toilet the throw up, head still all fuzzy and confused only like a GM can do.
Ive been having an increase in auras lately. Ive been on this new medication that seemed to be working for three months then the auras started again.
And a couple nights ago I woke up with a terrible kink in my neck. I didnt think much of it until the next day. The second night I fell asleep and in my dream I dreamt that I was about to have a seizure and I tried and tried and tried to stop it but it took o wr and everything went black. I woke up and still had the feeling from my dream. Its an unusual feeling that I have had a few times before. Its kind of like the most intense vibrations you could imagine centrally located within my brain. They are so powerful you cant think.
Next thing I know I guess Im back asleep cause they go away for a bit before waking up to the same thing again.
I woke up with my neck so much worse than the fiest day.
Now im on day three and my neck still hurts. I dont think anything happened last night. I feel like I slept well without interruptions.
I have an appointment with my neurologist next month but does this sound seizure related or just sleep related?
I may push up my appointment anyways since Ive had an increase in auras. Im on 400mg/day of Tegredol and I actually really like it compared to the keppra and topamax i was taking before but I think i will need an increase in dosage. I just really hope it doesnt cause side effects.

Even nocturnal partial seizures can be tough on the system, though tonic-clonics are more likely to leave you with body aches. The neck stuff doesn't necessarily mean a seizure, it could be that after you got the kink in your neck, the next two nights of awkward sleeping made it worse. It can just be really hard to tell. Do you keep a seizure or symptom diary? Have you been experiencing unusual stresses or other triggers?

Have you taken anything to help with your neck pain? Ibuprofen and a hot shower usually works fro me when I wake up with a neck crick. You might be able to get advice from your pharmacist about over-the counter medication or heat patches to help your neck feel better.

Nocturnal seizures are not so easy deal with as some people think and you do tend to do a lot of damage to yourself or so I have found, yes even the kink in your neck has happened to me on several occasions, although there are other reasons for it happening to you. sounds like you are pretty certain by the way you describe the feeling after a seizure, fuzzy head and confusion, that sick feeling and the way your whole body feels after a seizure and do not forget the headaches.

As you know with some new medication you try the side-effects can include very bad and weird dreams, at lest for me. So you need to be careful and think "did I have these dreams before this medication"

Nakamova makes a very good point about it not necessarily being a seizure and the heat pack is a good idea.

How do you sleep? Might sound like a weird question, I sleep on my stomach and I get bad neck and upper back pain. It is apparently (according to doctor) how I sleep. I don't know maybe sleeping on the stomach puts the neck in a weird position. Nakamura's suggestion is good. Ibuprofen, panadol for the pain a heat pack. Maybe even try getting a massage.
I think meds can cause weird dreams. I'd still write it down to help you remember and discuss it with your neurologist about it. Epilepsy is really crap, because literally no one person is affected the same way as another.

No it does not sound like a weird question, sleeping on my side has worked for me, it has helped with my seizures. I still put my head into the pillow during a seizure.

Hi. My son thinks that I may have had some type of seizure while I was sleeping Thursday night. He saw me go into my younger son's room, & then what I did was weird. He said that I kept trying to pick up my younger son, while saying "He's in the wrong bed."

Sabbo,

You could be sleepwalking, but if you have no history of that, then a complex partial seizure is the likely explanation.

I have no history of sleepwalking. I do have both simple and complex partial seizures.

Recently, my complex partial seizures seem to have become "stronger" or more intense. I've wet myself during some of them, & recently had one while in the shower.

My seizures started in 2006 as "sleepwalking" incidents. My husband would tell me that I got out of bed went to kitchen to get him food then went in closet to get dressed for work and got back in bed with clothes on.
Epilepsy is ONE WEIRD SICKNESS!
Good Luck!

This might be a stupid question but do you sleep with another person or pet? I sleep with my cats and they are serious bed hogs. I've woken up in mornings with cramps several times in any part of my body because I'm not sleeping right but in all sorts of contorted positions.

I usually take a nap in the afternoon in the living room and there have been several times that my husband has looked over and saw me shaking or doing something else that I'll do during a seizure. We're not positive if I was sleeping when the seizure happened but I'll wake up later, maybe an hour or more, and my husband will tell me I've had one. I had no clue that I did. I usually don't know when I've had a seizure though unless there is someone there to see it happen.

I get up at 7 am to feed the cats and take my meds then go back to bed and sleep till around 10 am. There was once a few months ago that I woke up on the couch at about 10 am with the clothes on that I was going to wear for the day. So sometime between 7 am and 10 am I'd gotten out of bed, changed out of my pj's and gotten on the couch. Don't remember doing any of this.

I know I have seizures at night. Some have been so violent I woke myself up or that I have blood on the pillow from biting the side of my mouth or my tongue. I'll wake up with my muscles sore and really tired from it.

I didn't see all of these replies, thank you all for taking your time to help me understand.

I do sleep on my stomach and with my husband. I have always slept on the same side of the bed in the same position using my same pillow. I can't sleep if everything isn't lined up exactly as usual.

I am almost convinced that the above mentioned post was a seizure, how intense I don't know. The feelings I had waking up were the feelings I having coming straight out of a seizure. Before I can hear and start to process again.

I woke up this morning so tired I shouldn't have been driving. I was swerving all of the road almost falling asleep driving. I did all I could to stay away (rolling my window down in 30 degree weather, sticking my head out, lots and lots of coffee, music loud etc). I had to drive but I just didn't want to. And I woke up with my mid back muscles so sore and my whole body feeling like it got hit by a freight train. It stinks.

But I didn't wake up with a post ictal feeling so I have a feeling instead of seizure this time... That I was abducted by an alien and experimented on all night. I feel like it at least. Ugh

I am still having auras and new little episodes. It stinks that I feel my seizures changing. My partials are getting more intense or maybe I'm just noticing them more. But they are changing. It stinks because I have a sales job that relies on my social skills which are declining and my insecurities increasing since I know many times I'm doing something strange without realizing and see the confused look on the persons face but have no way of explaining it.

And people are so nosey! I have a medical ID bracelet and in front of other people they ask "So why do you have that?" Or "What's wrong with you?" or "So what pills are you taking?"

But this is not the thread. Just my annoyances today

Oh and I do have a history of sleep walking I think. I don't know.

About six years ago there were a few days in a row where I was waking up with scratches on my legs and leaves from my back yard and mud on my pants. But it hasn't happened since and hadn't happened before that since childhood

I only know of one time that I've been sleep walking.
