Can someone please tell me exactly what this is ?

Im guessing its a partial seizure that just goes on and on and on way too long ?

Is it serious ? even though you arent convulsing ?

If so .. what is the treatment.

Im just a little worried since Ive just been diagnosed with TLE partial seizures, and dont want to slip into this while Im still getting meds regulated.

You nailed

it on the head, and YES it can be serious.

Usually the treatment is Ativan, or something along that line. Talk to your neuro about it, and discuss the options, and your concerns about it....

Worry causes stress, which actually has a negative reaction on brain activity.

Do what you can to stay healthy and nurture your spirit when possible and trust that you are making the best choices possible with the information that you have.

Yep Vapour.

Status seizures are a possibility, but not something you should worry over. It is not an on-going issue for most people with partial (or other types) of seizures.

I am an anomaly. I have these frequently (several times a month)...But not to worry. :agree: My doctor's main concern is that it increases my chance for generalizing to a full tonic-clonic (which I also have a history of having). There is also the issue of kindling (Google it for a thorough explanation)...think of it like a fire that easily sparks itself after awhile.

I do take Lorazapam (ativan) during these status episodes. If I am in "deep" enough, my husband gives it to me.

However, Ativan is not for long-term seizure treatment.

Just take good care of yourself physically, try to keep unnecessary stress at a minimum, eat well, follow your doctor's advice, and talk to him/her at your next appointment about your concerns.

I wish you the best! -Julie :e:

Yes there is such thing as non-convulsive status
epilepticus. I have had them; including back-to-
backs as well. And typically they administer
Ativan or Lorazepam via IV, and as Seiz-4-ever
remarked - I also want to add there is also
a danger of going into secondary generalization
into Tonic Clonic (aka Grand Mal). And I also
want to add it is not unusual to bounce back
and forth from differing type of seizures if you
have a historical established medical fact of
having various types of seizures.

I've had it

Especially during periods of high stress, which used to be alot of the time. Now i just avoid high stressful situations if possible. No meds here, but i can tell you i wish i would have had ativan at the time. = ) No shame.
