I was diagnosed with partial complex seizures at 16-months old and the last time I had one was 8 years old. I am now 28. My seizures are caused by a lesion I have in my upper occipital lobe. I have been on Carbamazepine ever since.
My husband and I would like to start a family so my neurologist is switching from Carbamazepine to Lamictal and ordered a sleep-deprived and sleeping EEGs and also a MRI.
For the first time in my life, my EEG results came back normal. She said she saw "no seizure activity. Period." I know that about half of people with epilepsy can have a normal EEG at some point because the brain is constantly changing. Yet, I've never had it happen.
I'm supposed to hear about my MRI results today and I'm getting impatient. I'm currently trying to telepathically make my phone ring by constantly looking at it. Ha! She said that she wanted to "talk about my MRI in-depth." I don't know what that means and it scares me. It makes me think that something else is wrong other than just seeing my lesion.
Has anyone here dealt with something like this?
