My son (3yrs) came running up to me at the playground today (only 2 kids there not near him) after being there for less than 5 minutes ....He had his fingers pressed tightly against his mouth and was looking to the left and right .. repeating this action. He would not speak for a minute or two. He then got kinda mad at me and ran off back to play. I asked him why he did that and he said he did not know. I asked again a few more times and he said he was afraid. I said why? He said he did not know. When I asked him again 10 min later, he just went back to what he said in the beginning..That he did not know why he did that.

My Q..Was this a seizure? Or maybe his meds (he is on day 6 of Topamax 15mil at night)

Thanks!

Hallucinations or paranoia can be a side effect of Topomax -- maybe that's what's happened, or some other sensation that is hard for a 3-year old to process. Just to be on the safe side, I would mention it to your son's neuro, along with any other symptoms/side effects/odd behaviors.
